Sunday Gospel Brunch at the Polo Inn in Chicago's Bridgeport community is an event like no other...live organ music, creme brulee French toast, Eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, omelets, chicken and waffles, pancakes and hearty hash. Urged by friends, my wife and I had planned to attend. But fate intervened and we settled for lunch. Located at 3322 South Morgan Street, one mile west of the Chicago White Sox's Guarantee Rate Field, chef/owner Dave Samber has attached a classy restaurant to a comfortable bed-and-breakfast. Since 1985, the restaurant has offered Angus steaks and other delicious dishes. Open from noon to 6:30 on Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 8 on Friday, 3 to 8 on Saturday and 10 to 2 on Sunday, Polo Inn gives White Sox fans something to cheer about. We started with fire-grilled jumbo shrimp with horseradish cocktail sauce, baked crab cake nuggets with Louisiana hot dipping sauce and House Caesar salad with Romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, pecorino Romano cheese, anchovies and house-made creamy Caesar dressing. For her entree, my wife had baked salmon with rice and fire-grilled vegetables. I opted for a 16-ounce bone-in ribeye steak with house-made mashed potatoes and gravy and sauteed spinach with garlic. For dessert, we couldn't resist the house's signature baked creme brulee French toast medallions with fig vodka butter syrup, powdered sugar and whipped cream. But no organ music.

Polo may look like your ordinary neighborhood resturant; it isn't! Cloth napkins & table cloth, fresh flowers on each table, very clean, friendly professional staff. Dave, the resturant owner , always comes out to greet the guest & ask about your enjoyment, food & service. Food is fresh and well prepared to your request. A hidden gem!!

I stayed here for nearly a week. I fell in love. The history and ambiance and company far exceeded what I would expect from a bed and breakfast. Kevin meets you downstairs at any time you choose in the morning for breakfast and makes you whatever you want, while doling out great life advice. Dave, the owner is always a phone call away and so helpful with any questions you have. I’ve never felt more at home. I stayed in two different suites during my stay and I was obsessed with both. Martin for dinner service is the best as well. I would recommend 10/10.

My sister held her bridal shower at The Polo Inn and it was FABULOUS! The owner and helpers did an amazing job setting up the venue to make it look beautiful. There were about 45 people in attendance and we all enjoyed it. The food was spectacular and I liked everything Dave made. The butternut squash ravioli and the braciole were specialty items Dave put together for us and they were a hit with the entire group. I can’t say enough good things about my experience at The Polo Inn thanks to the wonderful employees and delicious food.

We went to Polo for Mother's Day and were very satisfied with all aspects of the dining experience. The food at the buffet was delicious, replenished regularly, and had a great variety. Our servers were attentive and pleasant. The very busy brunch was excellent managed with reservations so there was no waiting and the staff was expert in managing everything. Highly recommend Polo.

The family reserved this restaurant day and time for my daughter's Repast dinner. It was lovely, food was delicious with spring salad, chichen breast, salmon, sides, & accessories. Dessert was the famous house creme brule and homemade chocolate chip cookies. The food though delicious was not quite warm enough and we missed Dave to add more ambiance to the occasion. The staff did a good job, it could have been great with a little more effort. I would highly recommend The Polo Inn.

My friend and I had a very tasty and enjoyable lunch at Polo. The service was excellent, the BBQ ribs were perfectly smoked and tender. The individual, small serving of creme brûlée was scrumptious and accompanied by a wonderful cup of freshly brewed coffee. We were also delighted with the owner, Dave Samber, who regaled us with a story re the filming of a movie at Polo

Attended the gospel brunch and enjoyed wonderful food while being entertained with gorgeous organ music often accompanied by the talented owner Dave Samber. The staff were all pleasant and attentive. This was a delightful and unique culinary experience in a cozy restaurant housed in a building rich with history. Enjoyed every minute!

I’m really glad we had the chance to visit the Polo Inn. It is a really nice classic place for great American food and even has nice bed and breakfast accommodations that we stayed at for the weekend during a music choreography retreat. They have a really cool banquet room with a stage and a loft. Really cool place for a private party or event. It’s definitely worth checking it out.

I stayed here for a couple days with a group of peers for a violin performance, and the food was really amazing! I thought the food could generally use some more spices, but I can't really complain. The pizzas (made in house) were delicious, and I thought the artichoke and broccoli pizzas were really interesting and good, and the mushroom pizza was just heavenly. The creme brulee french toast I had the next morning was the best french toast I'd ever had. Highly recommend.

Been wanting to try this restaurant for years and finally went Sunday for their gospel brunch. FABULOUS with a cool vibe. Get the sampler platter to try all their bests. My husband had the shrimp and grits special which he's picky about but gave them high marks. It's BYOB so bring a bottle of champage, they will set you up for mimosa's. Hugh & staff of servers had enjoyable personalities, attentive while keeping their distance. Loved meeting the owner Dave and hearing his story about growing this bisuness. Don't let the gopel music put you off if that's not your thing. It's light, enjoyable and a great way to start the week. Can't wait to try dinner there. And there is one other Bridgeport restaurant that's in the same league, Phil's Pizza!

We had the pleasure of having a bridal shower at polo inn this month. Dave and his team were wonderful and helped with everything from menu selection to decorating. Everyone loved the food and it’s a great location if you’re hosting people from different sides of the city. We had about 55 people at the shower and there was plenty of room for everyone to move around the party space without feeling cramped. I highly recommend the Polo Inn and will most likely be using it again for other events in the future.

About 13 of us ladies dined at The Polo Inn recently for our Christmas Brunch. Dave and his staff seated us privately in the ball room that was beautifully decorated. We followed protocols due to Covid19 and we were all vaccinated. Coffee/Tea was all set on a table and also Christmas punch. We were served a tasty green salad with warm dinner rolls, next plated Ravioli with grilled chicken topped with a delicious creamy sauce and for dessert an awesome creme brulee. Champagne was served after dinner. Dave and his staff were amazing. We have decided that Polo Inn is our go to restaurant for Christmas Bunch. Thank you Dave and the Polo Inn staff.

We have enjoyed the gospel brunch at the Polo Inn several times, and just had a wonderful fixed price Valentine dinner in their banquet room, which felt warm and cozy with lots of votive candles and soft tablecloths. The food was just as delicious as for the gospel brunch, starting with a delicious and creative beet salad, choice of main course with vegetables, and a yummy creme brulee and chocolate covered strawberry for dessert. Every experience we have had at the Polo Inn has been well worth the drive from our home north of Chicago.

By far the best stay my family and I have had in Chicago. We stayed in the White Sox suite for one night and the room was beautiful, tons of memorabilia to look at, field of dreams inspired room, truly one of the coolest rooms we’ve stayed in. The owners are some of the nicest people we’ve ever met, and even drove us to the ball park before the game. Only one mile away from the ball park so it’s in a very convenient spot, and to finish our stay we were served breakfast, and it was by far the best breakfast I’ve had from ANY restaurant in my life. A+ stay, and we will be back for the food, the lovely hosts, and their beautiful dog Roman. A+ stay.
