Once you have visited Superdawg Drive-In, you'll never forget the experience...the iconic signage, the Chicago-style hot dog that is ranked No. 3 in the nation by one survey, the fries, the milk shakes, the sodas, the chili, the car hops, the tradition. Located at 6363...North Milwaukee Avenue on Chicago's northwest side, at Devon and Nagle, it is a nationally known hot dog stand that dates to 1948. The original owners, Maurice and Flaurie Berman, are gone. But the family continues the tradition. They serve a superior pure beef hot dog...no pork, no veal, no cereal, no filler...and it's dressed with all the trimmings--golden mustard, tangy piccalilli, kosher dill pickle, chopped Spanish onions and hot pepper on a poppy seed bun. Wash it down with a pint of double rich chocolate or real fruit strawberry-flavored milk shake or a frosty mug of root beer. Or a soda with scoops of ice cream in a pool of chocolate topped with whipped cream and cherries. My wife and I have been enjoying Superdawgs since we moved to downtown Chicago in the 1970s. The good taste never goes away. Superdawg Drive-In is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. From the day shift to the late-night shift, it never gets old.More
