The staff was friendly and attentive, and we received our food promptly. We visited on a Tuesday for brunch and the restaurant was about half full. It is a pretty small place, so, I can imagine a wait on a busy day. Our food was well cooked and seasoned well. We enjoyed our brunch at Southport.

Sunday brunch is busy, I get it. But it shouldn't take 5 minutes to clear a table, 15 minutes to offer to take our order and 35 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was decent, if a bit over priced. If you go, understand that this place does not operate at normal breakfast-place speeds.

What a treat for our millennial kids to take us to Sunday brunch at the Southport Grocery. They used to live in the neighborhood & this was one of their favorite spots, so another fun reason to try it! Hearty delicious breakfast egg dishes, bottomless cups of coffee & tasty bloody Marys made for a wonderful Sunday morning. I bought... More

Now that the baseball hoopla has died down, we stopped in for lunch on a weekday. A table was available so we didn't have to wait. The menu consists of breakfast dishes available all day, salads, sandwiches and soup. I had a chopped salad which was enormous, filled with chicken chunks, bacon, romaine, cheese, cuke, radish and florets of cauliflower... More

We had a late lunch here as a group of six. Lots of choices on the menu. The food was fresh and tasty and the service was good. Southport in general is a really great spot with loads of cool different options. We didn't get a chance to sample anywhere else whilst we were there, but this place was a... More

So, we decided to go to Wrigleyville to celebrate in the Cubbies victory and have breakfast down there. The reviews of this place is what caused us to try it out. We got there early at about 9:50am Sunday morning and there were 4 tables empty outside and 2 empty tables inside so we were happy that there was not... More

I really wanted to uproot this great gem and bring it home with me! Wonderful food with an emphasis on fresh and seasonal. The menu changes with the season. I combined several sides, with house-made sausage and a croissant-minded biscuit which was terrific with jam. They make their own preserves, relishes, etc., and sell them, along with those by other... More

So we hit up Southport for breakfast on Sunday morning. We thought we would beat the crowd but there was a hour long wait. They too our number so we wondered up the street to just look around. Once we were seated, I was disappointed to learn that they were already out of Chicken and Grits. The waitress explained that... More

This place is outstanding. Great ambiance. Lots of parking in a most charming neighborhood near Wrigley Field. Everything is made from scratch and it is clear that a lot of thought, effort and pride goes into the preparation of everything on the menu. Superb service that is friendly and efficient. A twist on classics that only makes them more delicious.... More
