My daughter, who is a grad student at U. Chicago, said this was the place to go for lunch. And she was right. Everything that went by looked excellent. The sandwiches we ordered were fresh and excellent. And the side salad could have fed a small army. The chocolate shake was terrific. By the time we left, there was a... More

we came here for brunch. My wife misplaced her laptop..It showed up elsewhere however the staff was incredible in their help. TThe staff: form the front end ,managing a sunday brunch crowd to the wait staff which was super busy, they shined. The food was just as good with the only disappointment being the "garbage ice cream sundae"...I would be... More

Love their cheese burgers! Good pizzas. Large, tasty salads. Service can be a bit hit or miss depending on how busy they are, but the staff are friendly. It's a great lunch place when at the University of Chicago or the Museum of Science and Industry. It's definitely child friendly. They have outdoor seating in the summer.

We came on a Friday night. We were seated right away but our waiter was super slow. It took forever for him to come over and greet us. Plus we had to get up everytime we needed something. We never refilled our water. We finally ordered all at once so he didn't have the chance to run off to the... More

Medici, the restaurant, is convenient for faculty and students at the University of Chicago, but it offers only an acceptable dining experience. The dining room was a welcome ruralesque departure from the Chicago suburban landscape, and the food was good...prepared well enough and presented well enough. It was a bit irritating that our party's (9 people) dishes were delivered at... More

We came in for a quick bite of dinner. It was awesomeness. We had the delcious lemonade, and then I had the chicken sandwich with there fresh baked bread. The think cut fries were possible the best part of my meal. I like match stick type fries. I highly recommend this for breakfast, brunch and now dinner. One of my... More

We took the train from downtown to this area mainly to see Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House. We had some time to kill and popped in for coffee and pastries. Very friendly vibe and clientele seemed to be a mix of different ages and types. We sat outside and watched the birds go after crumbs that feel from the tables.... More

Ate here by accident really. Happened to find a parking space in front of the place (parking in this area is horrible when U of Chicago is in session) to run some errands several blocks away. When we got back, there was still time on the meter and, well, we were right outside, so decided to go in for lunch.... More

Great atmosphere and good food. The interior is unique with a lot of graffiti and interesting surroundings. The food is good and service friendly. I didnt eat breakfast, but I hear it is their specialty.

Had my first Smoked Salmon omelet. Wonderful but a little heavy on the onions. Service was great. Loved the homemade wheat bread.

Staying in Hyde Park

Neighbourhood Profile
Hyde Park
If you want to get a feel for quintessential South Side Chicago, you have to make a stop in Hyde Park, one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. This historic area is home to two of the city’s most prominent cultural institutions, the Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Chicago. A stroll here will bring you past vintage and grand hotels converted into luxury apartment buildings; peaceful gardens, parks and green spaces; and ivy-adorned museums and other cultural institutions that speak to the city’s diversity and architectural beauty.
