Visiting Chicago for the first time we felt that we should experience a proper Chicago Pizza. We were not disappointed ! We were seated straight away and offered drinks to start as the waitress explained the pizza can take 45 minutes to prepare. I had a thin crust and my son a deep dish both of which were prepared exactly as requested. They were both delicious although we probably both ordered a size larger than we needed. I will definitely be visiting a Lou Malnati's on our next trip.

We actually went to the one on Michigan Avenue at the Wrigley Building. We arrived at noon. There was no wait. We were aware that the pizzas would take about 40 minutes so we were prepared for the wait. The staff was accommodating and the pizzas arrived hot and tasty. This is the quintessential deep dish pizza experience. We had 3 medium pizzas with sausage and fantastic tomatoes. No one in are party had a disparaging word about the experience nor food.

We went to the restaurant on Michigan Ave. Walked in, no wait at about 4:30 in the afternoon. Our waiter seemed to have all the tables in our section of the restaurant. I can recommend the lasagna and the salad for two. My wife ordered a thin crust pizza for one with black olives and mushrooms. We waited much longer than was reasonable due to our waiter being overworked. As stated my food was excellent. My wife however received a small deep dish pizza for two. We figured it would be way too long to send it back and wait for the correct order. So our approximately $30+ dollar meal ended up costing $50 not including tip.

My wife is not a big fan of deep dish pizza. But I am! So being a good sport she went with me to Lou Malnati's for original deep dish pizza. We went fairly early for us, around 5:30, but that guaranteed us a place to sit before it got crowded around 6:30. We ordered the original pan pizza for two, I.e. small, and a pitcher of Langunitas IPA. Both good choices. Our pizza came about 35 minutes after we ordered, and our pitcher was about half drunk. The pizza was excellent. Exactly as I remembered it to be. We both ate two pieces which was more than enough. The walk back to our hotel settled our stomachs, so that we did not feel too full. I was really happy that we had deep dish pizza in an original place.

Pizza was good. The Lou was better than The Classic.
Unfortunately the service was terrible. Took us almost 2 hours to get seated after an estimated wait time of 35minutes. The woman at the counter was rude when we ordered drinks. And the pizza took 45min to come out after we were seated, even though we pre-ordered - at their suggestion. I think we were forgotten about twice. Overall I don’t think I would go back.
If anyone is curious about the timeline.
6:15 Requester a table for 6 via the online system. It said estimated wait was 35minutes. So we walk to restaurant
6:30 arrive at restaurant and have a round of beers
7:30 (more than twice the estimated wait time) finally get a text that there is a table, but they won’t allow us to pull the stroller up to it and it’s been so long now that the baby is sleeping and we don’t want to wake her, I get why but if we would have been seated at the estimated time that would not have been a problem… They say 15 more minutes for a table. We also preorder our pizza at this time at their request.
8:00 someone from our party gets tired of waiting and goes up to ask and they seat us right away…. I’m pretty sure they forgot about us.
8:05 we order and remind waitress about the pre-ordered pizza.
8:10 apps come out
8:40 no pizza and no waitress in sight. Someone goes up to the counter and we get our pizza right away. Again I think they forgot about us.
Just bad service.

The pizza was great! That being said, the service on this evening was really bad. I didn't mind the one-hour wait to get in. It was a busy Saturday night, so I expected that. The restaurant requires you to order your pizza in order to put you on the waitlist. That's okay I was cool with that AND theoretically your pizza is started along with your wait and that's cool right? Well, you would think that! It took over an hour to get our pizza. Over 30 minutes to get our salad! We asked for a side of marinara sauce. Guess what? That took almost 30 minutes. EVERYTHING took forever. As a former waiter, I was trained to always keep drinks up. That didn't happen at Lou Malnati's that night. The waitress was a sweet girl, I think she may have had too many tables and I want to believe tonight was an outlier, but I don't think I'll be coming back. The food was great but the service that evening was awful. I really don't want to risk my time with a return visit.

I haven’t visited the restaurant, but I’ve always ordered their frozen pizzas and get them delivered to Colorado about 2-3 times a year. I order 6 at a time as that’s the best deal, and sausage is my goto pizza! Full
Layer of sausage, cheese and sauce on top it’s amazing!
Cooking is key to making their frozen pizza delicious, must be cooked right otherwise it’ll be soggy and not great.
I use a pizza stone, I believe that’s the beta way, if you don’t have one out the pizza directly on the rack as getting the crust crispy is key. I cook it at 435 not just 425, and also at least 45 - 50 minutes.
Take my tips and you’ll have the best Lou’s at home possible!

Limited time in the city...do no trouble yourself with getting pizza here. It was an 1:30 min wait and 40 min at the table to get two deep dish pizzas. It was an extreme waste of time. The service is extremely slow. We gave our name at the front table, they said they we should preorder which we did and then went to another restaurant had a drink, 1:30 min later, got a txt that our table was ready, got seated in 15 min after, the pizza apparently was not ready even though it was pre ordered, then we proceeded to wait 40 min for pizza. It just felt ridiculous!

Came for the deep dish, had the buffalo wings to start and they stole the show! Pizza was good, wings were better. We queued for a table but the queue went fast and they ask you to preorder the deep dish so you aren’t waiting ages once you’re seated. Would recommend

We had pizza delivered to our hotel on our first night in Chicago this trip. I’ve eaten at several highly recommend deep dish places when I’ve come on previous trips, but I hadn’t made it to Lou Malnati’s before now. Our order was delivered quickly and it arrived hot & fresh. The personal size was perfect for one person and great when you have a group that can’t agree on pizza toppings. My pizza was very good - buttery crisp crust, gooey cheese, and a balanced amount of tasty sauce. I would definitely eat/order from here again!

We visited the newly opened restaurant on Michigan Ave and Jesse our server made it one of the best experience dining and certainly the highlight of this trip. He made the perfect recommendations for vegetarian choices, had an awesome attitude and a perfect evening. Food is great, the seasonal burraatta Crostini is amazing, draft beer with deep dish pizza, perfectto!

The deep dish cheese pizza is fabulous but don’t go starving because it takes a long time for the pizza to be made. The crust, the sauce and the amount of cheese are delicious. We went to the Michigan Ave location - even at 445 on a Weds there were 16 parties ahead of us so get your name in well before you pan to arrive.

I had been told this place was a must from multiple neighbors. I had their famous sausage pizza (not crumbled ….. but a full slab of sausage that covers the whole pizza) mailed to me and ….. WORST pizza ever. Literally not edible and my kids refused to eat it too.
That said, when I was in town I had to give them another chance. Did not disappoint at all! The sausage pizza was VERY good fresh and their Lou / Louie was amazing. The apps were really good as were the drinks.
Solid service and good price for what you get. I’m now a big believer in their pizza and honestly assume somewhere in the production line my frozen pizza must have spoiled.
Great place (and a reason it’s so popular) and without a doubt I will go back when I’m in Chicagoland again!

Never been here and our experience was top notch. Our waitress was very attentive and filled us in on all the cool facts about Lou’s. We ordered one pizza and bread sticks for the 5 of us and it was so filling we ended up taking some home. The prices were good and even though they were busy we had nothing but the greatest service. We never went without a drink being filled. And we were checked on frequently. We definitely will be visiting again when we are in the area. But thanks to our wonderful waitress she let us know that there is a Lou Malnati’s restaurant in Wisconsin and that’s where we are from. So we will have to check it out! Great place thank you!!
