Have had good meals at other Francesca restaurants, but this was a true disappointment. Menu not particularly interesting--we were hoping for grilled seafood or pastas with sauces that were not tomato-based. My husband had mussels and an arugula salad--he salad was so tart that it was inedible, and the mussels were not fresh--and the sauce uninspired. I had the misto... More

Enjoyed a delicious meal with family this evening. Sergio provided our first rate service! Beginning with the warm and crusty bread, through Caesar salad and terrific pasta dishes. Unfortunately we were just to full to add dessert. Will definitely be back and will send others. Thank you

It's been a long time since I have been at Francesca's on Taylor. To be fair, my last experience went poorly, so when someone suggested that we try Francesca's on Taylor, I came along. Francesca's on Taylor is located right in the heart of the Little Italy at Taylor St. and Loomis St. We ordered two entrees. The first was... More

I had dinner here with my daughter and her fiance. The service was very good. The menu had a nice selection. The food was very good. If the mushroom soup is soup of the day, select it. My future son-in-law had a great minestrone. This is a good place for a special occasion. There is not a parking lot and... More

We came here by accident because the restaurant we normally go to was closed. This is a very quaint place. Our waitress Myra could not have been any friendlier. Was was excellent! The bread here is to die for! We had the special fettuccine with lobster and the rigatoni with sausage. The pasta was so fresh and delicious. We will... More

We went with friends and found the salad to be wonderful with salmi & olives and true Italian style salad. I had basil tomato spaghetti which was true Italian style! HUsband had fettuccine which was fabulous with rich creamy sauce and loved the authentic Italian style feel of the restaurant!

We took a chance and stopped in for an early dinner before the Bears game. This place was simply amazing! The bread was piping hot, the wine selection was fantastic, the homemade meatball appetizer was outstanding and the sauce was decadent. For dinner we had the Ravioli alla Sorella and Barramundi ai Funghi (Sea Bass) which were cooked to perfection.... More

The food was very good, I loved the carpaccio. My friend asked for the risotto, which was regular however a larger size than you would expect for an appetizer. The pizza was good. Our server was really attentive. The price was expensive in my opinion, but the food, service and ambiance were good.

My husband ate here 40 years ago and we returned with our daughter. Our table was ready and water and warm bread came promptly. Portions are more than generous. My salad Francesca was almost a meal in itself with ample beans and pea pods and blue cheese. My husband's risotto with sausage appetizer was good but more like a main... More

Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.
