A no-frills gyros/hot dog joint with decent food. Seems like a family-owned place with a pretty extensive counter-order menu.

Haven’t been here in years and I was sorry I came back. My wife had a hotdog and fries. She said it was alright. I had gyros and fries. The fries were very good. But the gyros was tasteless. More sour cream on the wrapper...the the sandwich. Meat was tough. The drink had more ice than pop. Will not return, too many other god places near by.More
If you're craving excellent gyros, with the seasoning and just the right hit of tzatziki sauce and fresh pita, Nick's is it. The flavor is excellent, and for a low carb treat, skip the pita and fries. Every-time I go there I feel like I'm...in a greektown skit on SNL, or have traveled back to the 70s. Don't worry about the signage, they focus on the "food". Authentic, authentic gyros and food. Fast service. Ketchup and napkins on the table. Parking is sometimes a challenge. Cool vintage stores near by.More
Excellent diner/fast food. Carbo loading or meat eating or vegetarian? Nick has something delicious for you.. Piping hot tasty gyros - a full plate. Great fries, great salads - and if you like baklava or spanakopita (spinach pie), fresh and flaky. Pleasant staff.
Had heard about Nick's through family and went to check them out. First, it can be said that the facade (storefront in a strip mall) and interior are plain and dated at best. The simple tables and menu board harken back to earlier decades. Don't...let this discourage you though, as the food is where the wow factor comes in. I ordered the Chicken Kabob sandwich which was grilled to order in my sight as I waited and was served on pita bread with grilled veggies and a side of an aoli-type spread to top it with. Boom!! This sandwich was stuffed to the point it was hard to hold and keep together but the flavor was magnificent!!! So tasty!!! Nick's is proof that you can't always judge the book by its cover. Very impressed!!More
I have moved to another state but still come every time I am in town. I dream of this food when I am in my new state. Best Gyros hands down!!
Once a year Chicago visit Nick's is a must. Generous with Gyros and great taste. Was disappointed that ran out of spinach pie AND Greek potatoes. Gee whiz
This small place on Harlem, just north of Touhy Ave., is an institution in the neighborhood. It isn't much in terms of ambience. It is a late 60s/early 70s diner, that hasn't changed since then (so it appears)- formica-topped tables and all. But, you don't...go for the decor. Nick's truly has one of the best gyros sandwiches in the Chicagoland area, if not the best, in a city that is awash in gyros stands. It's certainly the best I have had. The reason they are the best (as I heard from a local neighborhood historian) is that they construct their own gyros meat. It is not pre-packaged from a factory. I haven't confirmed that exactly, but you can clearly tell there is a difference. The fries you get as a side are good, but standard fare. If I have a hankering for a gyros, I will drive across the whole city to get one from Nick's. I can't really speak to their other items on the menu, because I only get the gyros with fries. 'Nuff said.More
Typical fast food gyro place with good fast food (8/10 rating). Place needs updating, but you're not there to lounge.
I have been taking my family to Nick's for nearly 20 years and I would put his gyros up against any I have ever had. The place isn't much (a throw back to the 70s?) but the food is simple and tasty. If you live...in Park Ridge/Niles/Edison Park you cannot go wrong with a gyro from Nicks!More
