This is our second visit to Rangoli and it was even better than the first. We’ve found a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with amazing, friendly service and phenomenal food. If, like me, you can’t have the hot spices, simply order it mild. Have everyone order something different and pass it around. Everything was wonderful.

I had been there with family and friend. It is an Indian restaurant, that's why we chose to be there after calling them and confirmed for parking place. We found road side parking. Bad part was the first respond we received from restaurant staff, when they asked if we have called in advance before coming, as if they would not allowed us inside the restaurant. I guess, they did not like unexpected guest because of very limited space to wait. however we kept cool and waited in passage. by the way, Food was good. price wise moderate.

Ordered this for delivery so can't comment on the service but the food was good when it arrived. There was a mix-up with the delivery but think that was caviar's fault rather than the restaurant. Also, on the menu it says dishes don't come with rice but they actually did so avoid ordering extra rice like we did! The garlic naan was very good and the dishes actually came spicy as we asked for. Would definitely visit again.

I have been going to Rangoli's and ordering from Rangoli's for 10 years now. While certain items remain unchanged like the naan bread, I have found that the curries like the butter chicken, the beef Vindaloo and the Palak Paneer have gone down hill. I will not order from them again as I have visited other Indian restaurants in this city and they exceed the quality by quite a bit. ALSO, I ordered 3 naan bread, 3 mains and rice, and the price came to over $90. I asked why is the price so high and they said it was because of meat prices have gone up. HOWEVER, my beef in the BV was poor cut of meat, like the cheapest meat, and did not have a good flavor. Also, the Palak Paneer was watery. The butter chicken tasted like tomato soup. Just so disappointed. I have given Rangoli's a lot of second chances in the last few years but this was the final visit and order.

I visited this place on 11th December 2018. I had ordered simple Veg Biryani. First, I was served a stale Biryani. Second, though I had specifically asked for non-spicy preparation, it was made extremely spicy. When I informed the cook about the stale dish, it was claimed to be a fresh one. When I insisted it be replaced, I was offered another dish. Finally, i settled for plain rice and daal. Not so good experience.

I used to live right around the corner from Rangoli and ordered pick up from there very frequently. My favs were the butter chicken, gobi manchurian (fried cauliflower), samosas, mutter paneer, palak paneer, chana masala, lamb biryani and the naan. It is spicier than average so you should factor this in when requesting your spice level and def get mild if you can't handle the heat. Unfortunately around mid to late 2017, something changed and my standard orders were very different. You could tell by just looking at the curries - the color was so different but so was the flavor. Really too bad cause it was great and is now just average.

They have good quality food, especially the lamb biryani. I also like Masala Chai. I order online a lot too, they mess up on delivery A LOT, pretty much every time i order, they miss an item, i dont know why, but i have to always wait extra for them to get the 2nd part of my order that was missing. Its kinda ridiculous how they mess up every time with delivery that is the only reason i am giving a low rating.

Just around the corner from our son's apartment, we went to dinner at Rangoli for the first time. It WILL NOT be our last! The food was outstanding and beautifully prepared. But you have to realize that classic Indian is spicy, even hot! So, the first time you go, speak up and order the food to be MILD. Next time you'll know better and can gauge the delicious, amazingly flavorful heat to your liking. We ordered Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Curry, Butter Chicken (don't miss this!), Garlic Naan bread, Basmati Rice (of course), and our son's favorite: Shrimp Vindaloo ( one of their hottest dishes, but......AMAZING!). Get there early, as it fills up fast and it's a small restaurant. The service was impeccable, the people friendly, prices most reasonable...and like I said, we will return!

Went with a group of 4 who regularly eat Indian all over the world. The menu described which dishes were spicy and had 0, 1 or 2 chilli diagrams showing how hot (just like everywhere else), however all the dishes with zero chilli and nothing in the description (even butter chicken) were very spicy! Some left their meal and we ate elsewhere after. When we arrived it was packed but the place started clearing out almost straight away, however wait times were quite long. The curries came out and we had to keep asking about the rice to go with the meal. On the third time asking, we said we will finish our meals before the rice comes and the waiter laughed and walked off. Two out of the four in our group got sick with an upset stomach later that evening and into the next morning. Prices are quite high comparatively for similar meals elsewhere and especially when they don't get eaten due to the spice ruining the meal.

I have done take out two times from Rangoli and went in once. The take out food was perfect -- as we ordered as soon as the restaurant opened at 4.30 pm, and got the delivery at 5.30/6 (trafffic). The food was authentic Indian, fresh and perfect. We had ordered a lot of vegetarian dishes as it was for a small get-together of 6 to 10 people. May be because we went in late and were just two people, and hence couldn't order as many dishes, our dine-in experience was not the same, though the food was still better than in any other Indian restaurant in Chicago (I have been to five others, including two in Devon street).

This is a BYOB restaurant so plan for that is you want alcohol with dinner. The food was so flavorful. Especially our appetizer of Gobi Manchurian which is fried cauliflower in this wonderful sauce. My mouth is watering just remembering it.

I opted for home delivery. The service was prompt. The food was tasteless (veg and chicken both) and even though I said several times on the phone that we want the food mild, it was extremely hot.

This review is based on one takeout order. Based on the favorable reviews, I was super excited to try Rangoli. I phoned ahead and ordered naan, two samosas and chicken tikka masala. The naan, samosas were standard and tasted fine. The disappointment came in the tikka masala because all the chicken pieces were dry. The masala was spot on but had the chicken been cooked better, I would have given Rangoli a fourth star. Loved the interior decor of the restuarant (check out the photos). I may give it another try but I'm not cruising 32 MPH on a Chicago Speed Zone of 30 MPH to go back.

I decided to drive an hour and a half to go eat with my 7 year old to go eat at rangoli. I knew there was no reservations it was first come first serve. When i arrived at 8:00 there were 2 parties of 2 in front of us and 3 tables getting ready to leave. He made sure to make sure it was only us eating. Told us 45 minute wait. Took down phone number and name. Never called. I could see the diappointment knowing i was bringing a child. Im not stupid. Never called. I called at 10:30 to ask why no phone call. He lied and said only one party of 2 got to eat. This isnt my first night out at a restaurant. I caught him in multiple lies on the telephone. Ended up going to cumin to eat with no problem and it was the best indian ive ever eaten. Do not waste a trip to this place. They are greedy people in it for the moment not the duration. Stay away.
