Gold Coast location on Walton between Rush and Michigan. Find the orange door of this little local gem near the entry of a condo building. Croissants both sweet ($3.15 Belgian chocolate) and savoury ($4.25 Gruyere) are absolutely delicious, buttery, and flakey. Variety of macarons ($3) are large and not overly sweet. Dine in and enjoy a great cup of tea... More

AKA "The Belgium Bakery," this tiny eatery is located in the block west of north Michigan Ave. and is a real "find." Intimate space for those who wish to dine in. Delicious bread and coissants baked daily. Amazing desserts, little works of art and tasty. Soup specials daily. Try a sandwich on one of the luscious breads. Stop in to... More

This is a true bakery and pastry shop making traditional products with fresh, natural ingredients. The Belgium style white bread, croissants, pastry etc are all superb. This is not a chain bakery or cupcake factory turning out mass produced dross. This is a true bakery the likes of which are now rare.

Had an almond croissant and what I liked was it was not overladen with excess butter. What was missing though is there was not enough almond paste to accentuate the croissant perhaps the baker had an off day? the Doctor hit me with a helpful vote

Went in with high hopes as this bakery is very high on the list of bakeries in Chicago. Ordered 2 sandwiches which were dry and below average tasting. Had one chocolate muffin that was too dry. The one good thing was the almond chocolate croissant which was very nice. Will surely not be visiting this place again

All I can say is wow! Everything was amazing - especially their croissants (we tried chocolate and pistachio), quiche, and coffee. We got sandwiches to go, which were also delicious (and huge) ... just not quite enough flavor/spices for our taste. Also the Belgian Country Bread, which they use to make most of their sandwiches was good, but we would... More

Definitely pleasantly surprised by this small pastry/bakery shop. The staff was very nice and remembered us upon a second return. We enjoyed the savory tartan with cheese and meats as well as a delicious chocolat croissant. I will say the Belgium cold coffee by far is the best I have EVER had! Tried their raspberry mignon which was divine! Wish... More

This place is tiny, but the pastries are grand: an array of croissants, pains au chocolat, and other delights of the type one savors in Belgium or France. The waffles are superb:-- thick, hot, crisp, topped with fresh fruit and lashings of whipped cream. All at very reasonable prices. A real find. .

My family loves this place - we've been coming for four or five years. The people here are dedicated and so good at what they do. This is not a contrived environment - it a place that has charm and chinks and beauty, the kind that large chains copy but can't create. Now to the food: we have tasted most... More

Almost walked right by this place. Name seems to be the Belgian Bakery now. Got two chocolate croissants and the coffee was free. Not a lot of sitting space but the food is as good as it gets in Europe. Friendly service as well. Nice way to avoid the high priced hotel breakfasts.
