Overall a very nice experience. Service was wonderful, flavors very good, although nothing was other-worldly. Paid street parking is available in front and across the street. The place is small and tables are quite close to each other. The last three in back are so tight that only thin servers can access them when people are seated. Small portions as... More

Edward Kim, the owner/executive chef of Ruxbin Kitchin, has brought a new and refreshing and apparently successful concept to the restaurant scene in Chicago. Ruxbin, located at 851 North Ashland Avenue in Chicago's Noble Square and West Town neighborhood, offers a seasonal prix fixe menu with a French and Asian flair--five dishes at $85 per person with additional dishes at... The kitchen rose to the challenge to complement the fine bottles of wine our dinner companions brought to the table. Dishes shared and enjoyed by all included foie gras, venison, veal cheeks, octopus, and a celeriac salad. Many extras were "thrown in." Wonderful, adventurous dining. Service was perfect, understated and not pretentious. I loved the ambiance and decor of the... More

Ruxbin offers a fixed-priced four-course meal -- with a few extra treats or palate cleansers. The food, especially the venison, was outstanding. The atmosphere was warm, and the service was friendly and helpful.

Every dish looked like a work of art. We felt like we were on Top Chef. It was delicious adventurous food with an Asian influence. Just remember to bring your wine, they are BYOB.

I also respectfully disagree with the glowing reviews of Ruxbin. We dined there last night and thought it was ok. As another reviewer noted, the booth seating is much too uncomfortable to sit in through the entire dinner. Secondly the portions are extremely small. We left feeling like we needed to stop for a burger on the way home. This... More

I respectfully disagree with the glowing reviews of Ruxbin. We dined there last night and had a less than stellar experience. First, the booth seating is much too uncomfortable to sit in through what was for us was a 2 3/4 hour seating. Secondly it was uncomfortably hot and humid in the restaurant. One member of our party had to... More

We found Ruxbin to be incredibly expensive for what it was. Food was just OK -nothing special. For all the hype, we were expecting a lot more. The prix fixe menu was annoying. It didn't used to be that way. They should go back to just a regular menu.

Hard to get reservations so plan ahead! Small dining room, great ambiance and you definitely sit close to your neighbors but no one seems to mind! 5 courses for the table which you share. Lots of in between courses which you don't know about ahead of time. Just the right amount of food to leave quite well filled. All food... More

This was a hole in the wall place that a colleague arranged for dinner - I was skeptical, but WOW - the food. It was amazing. I enjoyed everything on the menu and simply let the fresh flavors wash over me. The meal was simply delicious and everything was in harmony. If you get the chance to eat here, take... More
