The vibes are very nice, a great place to study, relax, read, and more. Many different varieties of drinks and food. A large selection of tea too! Highly recommend. :)

You've got to love a place with a large dictionary in one of the dining rooms. I'm impressed by the tea selection - you chose what you want from the jars on the shelves, each one gives you origin and an idea of taste. The...staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and can give good recommendations. I also ate there twice and had really tasty vegetarian sandwiches. Food choices have literary names. If you like chocolate and they have brownies when you're there, get one, absolutely delicious. The courtyard is nice to eat or sit and your drink in. Just notices tonight that there is a cute iron Eiffel Tower over the gate. Such a nice local spot to spend some time in.More
I love this place...Very friendly staff and a wonderful choice of teas.I love visiting Chicago and this is a place I always head to..A much nicer experience than going to the same old Starbucks etc...
I saw the pictures of this place and I decided to go. I had high expectation for the coffee and I was very disappointed to find a very bad coffee in one of the best spot where I've been so far. The place has huge...potential, I love the music and the old furniture. It makes you feel out of time, maybe 200 years back in the past. The second floor is even better. The service was great, interesting talk with the guy there, but I cannot drink that coffee. Small change, but I guess it can have huge impact.More
Having walked past many times I finally went in and really liked what I saw. I decided to take my coffee outside under the canopy of trees set up to screen you from the afternoon sun. Pastry's, quiche, salads, vegetarian, vegan, coffee drinks, and teas....Really a place to go if you are a local but if you travel and seek the local vibe, this is the type of place you seek. I hope the regulars do shoot me next time I am in.... I forgot this little kid bit. They have a lending library on the patio. Feel free to read while you are there. Take a book to donate to the system, if you are so inclined!More
As other reviews have noted, they were out of a lot of basic things. There were no breakfast bakery items left in display case (except for pie, but who eats pie for breakfast?). When I asked if they had any breakfast bread items left, they...said “no”- which is shocking. If you don’t want to eat much, then it’s probably a great place for coffee. Nice indoor and outdoor area, but we at least wanted a croissant or bagel or rolls or something to go with coffee, so we left since they were totally out of basic cafe items. Management needs to stock up better since others have mentioned this too. It’s like they didn’t care.More
Great place to meet friends for a fresh cup of coffee and lunch. Extensive sandwich menu as well as breakfast selections.
On a recent visit on the early side of the lunch rush (11:30ish), an otherwise perfectly friendly and helpful member of staff had to inform me that they had "run out" of the bread that one of their signature sandwiches came with. Surprising, I thought,...that one of the key items in one of the signature offerings is not available at the beginning of the lunch hour. In addition, the place, formerly an institution renowned among DePaul students as much as others, bears less and less closer visual inspection. The ceiling fan for instance, covered in a mix of dust and cooking oils, represents a major challenge to anybody's appetite. The sandwich came out fine, but the environment, notwithstanding the intended Boheme style, needs some clean up.More
A beautiful cozy and historic cafe with a vast menu and a barista with perfect sills such that the milk is heated exactly to release those natural sugars in my dry cap.
Good spot with inside/outside seating. Latte and sandwich were very average altho it is a former award winner in '14 and '15. On way from Lincoln Park/Fullerton St to Fullerton Red Line stop. Sandwich line up is very intriguing and desserts looked good.
