Xoco is not your normal sit down restaurant. When you arrive, the staff give you a menu and usher you into a line so you can place your order at the cashier. They also assign you a table number and you head over there and wait for your food to be delivered. The place is nearly always busy so you... More

I stopped by Xoco on a freezing Saturday afternoon for some lunch. Immediately greeted by a friendly and casual host who went to find me a table while I looked at the menu and ordered. When you order at the cashier, they will ask you for your table number or get it from the host if he hasn't told you... More

This is a small casual restaurant with few tables good for take out, dining alone, or small groups (4-5). The food is good and the churros were the best I've had outside of Mexico. The hot chocolate was decadent. I'd go back for churros y chelate!

Be prepared: when you walk in they ask if you want to sit down or eat in? There is carry out-to go area. If you eat there they give you a number. Then you move down the line and around the counter where you place your order. They hand you a menu right away and there is one posted. You... More

Nobody does Mexican food like Rick Bayless. This is one of his less formal restaurants but they sure don't cut any corners on taste! I had the Carnitas Caldo and the broth alone was to die for not to mention the carnitas, dumplings and other wonderfully fresh ingredients.

Went with my friends for an early dinner at Xocos' and was quite surprised with the quality. The "almost naked guacamole" and margaritas were really good starters. We shared some "ahogada", "milanesa" and tacos. The tacos were our favorite part of the meal. After this copious meal, we were extremely full and unable to savor desserts. Overall, it's a good,... We went for breakfast two days in a row and both times were exceptional. You order your food and then sit down. The spicy hot chocolate was excellent. A little fire in the back of your throat and the deepest chocolate flavor made a great drink. The torta, molletes, chilaquiles, and empanadas were full of flavor and really fresh. Everything... This is an excellent restaurant for a quick bite of excellent Mexican Food. Their "tortas" or Mexican sandwiches on a small baguette are all excellent as well as the Churros. Inexpensive.

While researching dining in Chicago I became intrigued by how hot chocolate is made here. In person I savored a cup of hot chocolate heaven. This is the place to get your chocolate craving sated with their rich thick brew. It was the perfect antidote to a blustery rainy afternoon. My friend and I, also, had lunch here another day.... No need to tell much, most locals know about this place; if you'e visiting, don't miss this place for a quick eat, preferably for lunch. It's a bit pricey, but the taste totally worth for the buck. A lot of options - sandwiches are great.
