I have eaten in this restaurant a number of times in the past. I have met the owner Tony Spavone. This man has an awesome voice. He actually sings to his customers while they dine. He sings in Italian & American languages. He sells his CD'S at the register & I believe I have them all. In my opinion, the... More

This isn't a "typical"Italian restaurant: two things distinguish it. First is the owner, Tony Spavone, whose musical talent and exuberant personality are enough to win you over. Then there are the musical acts he books, including the In Session Jazz Orchestra. The food? Absolutely perfect (I'm a fan of the calamari, but it's all great and authentic). The portions are... Enter the lobby to view hundreds of celebrities endorsing Spavone's Restaurante and friendship. Tony has no customers. He designs dishes and music to entertain his friends, and he welcomes you to join that ever expanding group. Special menus are arranged for large parties.

So… I am very mixed about this place and let me tell you why… My bf called me and told me that they were going to have the music group "The Drifters" at this place the following week… I called up the restaurant and they told me thet they were booked so I went on OpenTable and was able to... More

Very friendly employees however the price for the food is not worth it when I can go to other Italian Restaurants and get more for my money. Example all other places I get a soup or salad with my meal however here you have to order and pay separate for the soup or salad. The prices were a bit high... More

We went to Tony Spavones for my fathers 100th birthday. There were 12 of us. The service was the best and Mitchell our waiter was very attentive. Tony sang to my father. We have been going here for years and it is always excellent. The food was wonderful as always. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I... More

Tony was off singing somewhere else, so we had a quiet lunch. The fresh garlic rolls are wonderful -- served with olive oil, butter and grated cheese. We started with the minestrone and escarole in brodo soups. Our entrees were risotto and tuna salad and rotolo primavera. Plenty of delicious food -- enough leftovers for another meal.

Have frequented this restaurant multiple times and have not been disappointed. This visit was for a mini birthday celebration and the waitress recommended neck bones and gravy which were outstanding. I very much enjoyed the gravy on the bones better than the pasta gravy which seemed to be a little more acidic and less flavor. Really a good deal!

Chose this restaurant solely on location as it was a halfway point for meeting a friend. As other reviews have stated, the atmosphere is dated and boring, and the lighting is too bright and glaring. We were seated right away for our 6:45 reservation and greeting promptly by our server, Nicole, who took our drink order, a bottle of wine... More

Ok, so the decor is dated and the location isn't downtown Chicago. That's all ok, because the reason to go to Spavone's is for the people and the food. It's old-timey, with a great owner, Tony, who entertains you while you eat; old style surroundings, with dozens of photos of the greats and near greats that visited the restaurant over... More
