Best bar-b-cue around. Love the pork plate and sweet sauce. They have a wonderful potatoe salad as well as beans as a side. Always packed. Will come here over and over again .

This is an old BBQ joint that's been around since before Smyrna was a big deal. The BBQ is good and the sides are good also. This is pretty much what you would expect from a basic, old school BBQ place. The pulled pork is...More
There is nothing like getting a big hug before ordering your BBQ lunch! Be ready for it. I love Old South. I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with their sweet BBQ sauce and had a side order of the Brunswick Stew with a Sweet...More
Stopped here yet again for lunch, and had to do another review since it has been several years since my last review. We are from Michigan and every trip to Marietta includes a stop at Old South. Title says it best: best barbque ever. I...More
There may be as good as ribs around Atlanta, but there is none better than here! Ms llouellan has passed, but her family still cooks great ribs. In my opinion, as good as Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, and as good as Corky's or RB's in Memphis....More
The place was dirty. There was a customer/employee (?) throwing up in the bathroom. The waitress delivered my plate with her thumb in my food. I ordered the chicken and had to go on antibiotics to combat whatever I picked up at Old South BBQ...More
This is the oldest restaurant in Smyrna. They do barbecue right, nothing too fancy just right. You can see the pit inside and the wood pile outside, unlike some chain restaurants. Support local, you won't regret it!
Thank you Marsha! The restaurants now have laws where they can not have open pits like we do! We are Grandfathered in from our opening in 1968!
Great family environment with good BBQ. Waitresses are known to give hugs and you feel very welcome. Food was very good, basic atmosphere. Will return.
You really do feel like you are eating at your grandma's house back in the old days. The staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome. The food was pretty good, but not the best I have ever eaten.
