We had a delicious lunch and great service. The butter cake was warm and decadent. My husband had the catch of the day (flounder). I had crab bisque and calamari. My daughter enjoyed her cheese quesadilla.
We love seafood - our waitress at breakfast on Jekyll shared a few favorites on SSI, then said that this was her absolute favorite. We loved it too- the oysters, shrimp ceviche. crab cakes, blackened flounder, oh, and then topped off with their butter cake...ala mode - sigh. Every bite was delicious and we loved the whole atmosphere and how friendly the waitress was. Definitely will return when we come back to the area!More
I was rushing to find a place to eat at Saint Simons before everything closed and I decided to run into see if I could at least get something to go. They surprised me by saying they were closing when everybody left.
I took a...spot at the bar, ordered some extremely fresh oysters and then shrimp and fries. Everything was just amazing.
Loved every bite.More
Great drinks and personality to go along with the delicious food.
We visited from Florida this past weekend and quickly found a seat at the bar and were not disappointed by a single thing.
The Crab Bisque was so delicious that we came back for...more the second night there. My husband ordered the Oysters Frederica and loved them. Food came out super fast and everything was the perfect temperature. Some of the locals were telling us that everything is delicious so it sounds like they are always doing it right!
Thanks, Ashley, for a wonderful visit. We will be back for another of your Old Fashioned drinks.More
We sat outside along the sidewalk.
Ordered appetizers for lunch. They arrived maybe 30 seconds after ordering. WOW!
My partner's crab bisque was excellent.
I had "tuna tacos". Rare, but not cold tuna, red cabbage, lime / cilantro dressing on top of crisp square tacos....Super!More
A friend recommended The Half-Shell to us a couple of years back. We finally got around to trying it. The food was delicious. Our party had fried shrimp, blackened shrimp, bacon wrapped green beans, grits, and sautéed vegetables. Oh, don’t forget to try the dessert....Everything was delicious. The only thing that garnered a complaint was the sautéed veggies. Our daughter had those and thought they needed more salt in the preparation. She was able to score some from the server and get it salted to her taste. The prices were fairly reasonable for seafood on an island. $15 for shrimp and a side. Our server was great. She checked on us frequently and was very pleasant. We were able to sit outside which we appreciated since Covid has been so bad in this area. We will plan to return.More
Service was friendly and attentive. The Blackened Mahi was very small and bland (surprisingly). I didn't love it. It was just ok like the title of my review. This place has a great location but it was too warm in the restaurant and the seating...was uncomfortable. We won't go back with all the other great options on the island.
I'm sorry for being critical but it was a disappointing dinner.More
It was our first night of being on the island and we asked some locals where they like to eat. Several of them recommended the Half Shell so we decided to go there. It was a Monday night but they were extremely busy and said...they had about an hour wait time. We didn't think that was too bad considering it was 7:00 when we got there. We walked around the pier area and went back at about 7:45 and they seated us within 15 minutes. We did have to eat outside and it was very hot and humid but the meal was excellent! I had the chilled garlic Georgia shrimp with hush puppies and a baked potato. My husband had a half dozen of raw oysters (his favorite) and the blue crab cakes. He said his oysters were excellent as well as his crab cakes. It was very good food and great service and we would go back again if we're ever in the area again!More
We had the shrimp ceviche and the carb cake sandwich which were delicious. We opted for the green beans wrapped in bacon side - and it was amazing - who knew? Expect to wait a while during peak season. We went on a Thursday and...for 2 people we had a about a 45 minute wait and 4 people had about an 1.5 to 2 hour rate.More
