Doug;s place has been around for a long time and the building shows it's age. The parking lot has large potholes and some is still gravel. BUT this is the kind of place you want to come to get good old southern food. I personally like breakfast best. Good biscuits and southern gravy. Egg plate cooked how you want them... More

Food very tasty. We had fried chicken--very little batter and large pieces. Many veggies to pick from. I had fried green tomatoes, okra and turnip greens. The biscuits are as good as any I've ever had.

Looks like it was a country store or service station with an enclosed front porch and enclosed lean to added. It has four eating areas (not exactly dining rooms) on two levels. Food choices: five entrees, eight vegetables, three desserts and drinks. These differ each day. Fried chicken is wonderful. True ole time southern cooking. Young local females as waitresses... More

Got called at 9am and heard, "let's go to Doug's for breakfast", so off I went. Met two friends and walked into a true Southern restaurant. First, they have chairs and benches for people who might be waiting ( we had no wait) on the front area. As an added bonus , a man was bringing in beautiful potted plants... More

If you are in the mood for the typical lueplate special (aka Meat & Veggis) Sothern Style this is the place where locals, contractors, and retires go. Entrees change buy the day of the week such as Fried Chicken, Meat loaf, etc. My favorite is the Chicken Livers which I do not normally eat, but here they are baked and... More

Traveling from GA. To Kentucky and stopped on for dinner on a Friday night. Doug's was busy, but we got seated immediately, ate and we're back on the road within an hour. Food was awesome and even had live blue grass music. Would definitely stop back in while traveling.

I grew up small town so I know my fair share of Mom and pop restaurants; while some of the food was great others were ok at best. I had the country fried steak and gravy the steak had so much burnt grill gristle left on it it left a horrible taste..then the "gravy" they put on top was made... More

Just left Doug place. Worse service I've ever had. Our waitress was sitting down talking with a bunch of boys. My husband had to flag her down to get butter for his baked potato, by that time his steak was half eaten . I was out of tea for half of my meal and it never got refilled. Our waitress... More
