A New Appreciation of New Tacos

I thoroughly enjoy tacos but have mainly been exposed to those of the traditional style. True, many are the same, but I still enjoy most of them. In fact I have usually been disappointed with the soft tortilla kind with non-traditional meats and salsas that I have tried before. Not so with Casita Taqueria. They were fabulous! I now have a totally new opinion about the genre, and am looking forward to trying more.

Tacos!!

My sweetie Gary and I took a road trip up to St. Pete's yesterday to visit a hobby shop (hi Bryan at Model Citizen!) afterwards we went to Casita Taqueria not too far from the shop. Sooo glad that we did! Bright restaurant, seating outside and in, many varieties of tacos, I had carnitas and barbacoa, Gary had flautas with the barbacoa.. everything was delicious! Fresh, tasty, prices were very reasonable, good quantity as well. We actually got food to go as well- a carne asada bowl for me and a chicken tinga burrito for him. Had part of them last night for dinner and there's still half left for today. They have shrimp and fish as well as vegetarian choices too. Soup specials, beers, cider and soda. Next road trip, THAT'S where lunch will be! Try it, you won't be disappointed! There's two other locations in St. Pete as well.

Delicious Tacos, Sangria, & Atmosphere

Landed in Tampa, drove to St. Pete, dropped our bags for our return stay at The Kenwood Gables B&B, then went straight to Casita Taqueria for a perfect lunch. I love their tacos. They are fresh and delicious. The flavors are delightful. The white sangria with the cinnamon on top makes me very happy and instantly relaxed to start vacation. I also love sitting out back at the picnic tables. Very relaxing, casual atmosphere.

We'd go chipotle

We had lunch at this restaurant and it's a simple place with some mexican decoration. The tacos are super small and each one is $3 average which you have to order more than 3 or 4 if you want to be satisfied. They asked for tip but it doesn't have table service, it is more like fast food type restaurant. Tacos are more like appetizers and the bowls are $7.49 and they are small too compare with chipotle bowls. Food taste good but for the price we'd go chipotle which is as good as you can get (fresh ingredients that you pick because you can see them) for a fast food mexican.

Order and pay at the counter and your food is brought to your table. I ate here a few times over the period of 2 weeks. The tables felt sticky/dirty. The service at the counter was usually rushed and not friendly, but was efficient overall. The chips and salsa were very good. I tried 4 different varieties of the tacos and they were overall good. The beef was rather chewy and the fish was a bit 'fishy'. Casita Taqueria has both inside and outside seating.

Soup superb, taco nothing special

Delicious soup of the day, I forgot what is was called, but it was a 12oz portion of pure delight. The pollo tinga taco was a bit cold and just so-so. Plenty of parking, plenty of tables in front and in the back. Clean restrooms.

This place is fantastic! The food is fresh. The house margarita is great. And you can tell your meal is cooked to order. Pollo verde burrito for me and the cilantro really livens up the flavors. Fajita taco (special) and Barbacoa taco for my husband. Again. Super fresh and super flavorful. We have been to several Mexican restaurants in the area and this is by far our favourite. If you haven’t been…what are you waiting for!?!? Get here.

Casita Bowl!!!

I love this place!!! The location is super close to my home so I am able to pick up very easily. They have lots of outdoor space in the back as well. The food here is always amazing, and the guacamole is possibly my favorite in Saint Pete!! Service is amazing over the phone for togo, and great in person as well. Great prices, too!!!!

Be sure to visit during Happy Hour~

Prices for the Happy Hour (4-6) have gone up (from $2 to $2.50) Still a great value, 5 options. Got one of each plus a rice bowl and guac. Filling and delicious dinner. Staff/owners were very pleasant and regulars were greeted by name.

Great food - great price

Have eaten here several times while passing through from the Tampa airport. I always get different dishes with the blackened mahi mahi. Excellent margaritas as well with lime zest and salt on the rim. The homemade chips & salsa are also a must.

Great find

Fresh and tasty street food. Busy even in the late afternoon. The atmosphere was fun and the employees helped us pick out some great options. Tacos were authentic Mexican. This was a great find and we will be back

I wish this place wasn’t 500 miles away. I’d be eating here every week! The vegetable taco was SO good, and the sangria was perfect. It has a pleasant atmosphere with delicious food. A great place to relax and enjoy some Mex!
