The best food in St.Pete

The hubby and I went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. We started out with the Grouper bites and Mozzarella sticks, I had the Grouper sandwich and the hubby had the Ribeye. Our waitress was Rachel, and I must say she was friendly and just a great waitress. Very attentive. Even the young lady at the door (Hostess) was friendly. The food is the best in St.Pete.

Impossible Burger

The Impossible burgers are so delicious. During this visit, mine had a little bit of a fishy taste to it on one side. I realized not all restaurants can cook plant foods separate from others. Are we supposed to request this separation of food types?

Great neighborhood eatery

Great neighborhood eatery. We ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and a bottle of wine....they were out of the wine I ordered and we settled on a different one that wasn't quite that good. Service was quick and the waitress would check to see if we needed anything while we were eating.

We picked Harvey's because the local reviews were good. I ordered the broiled platter. The seafood was a nice portion however it had absolutely NO seasoning and the fish wasn't cooked through. We had already waited a long time for the food to arrive, our server said the kitchen was "off tonight." Fries were good. Salads were fresh. Just average.

Good service, too bad the food wasn't

Got a recommendation that this was a place with a great grouper sandwich. Ordered the grouper, blackened, and the server suggested the side house made potato salad. The grouper was kind of blackened on one side, the tomato was less than fresh, and the sandwich was wet. The bun fell apart and for market price (19.00), not worth it. The 2 stars are for the excellent potato salad.

Tampa bay times was very positive

Small dark and very much a place for locals. We were treated politely but if you haven't eaten here for twenty years, it’s just anther bar and grill. Grouper was ok, usual problem, bun too small and soggy, falls apart very quickly. Waitresses pick up garbage from floor and don’t wash their hands, dipping directly into ice we’ll for drinks. French fries cold, Cole slaw good. Blt fine. Only for elderly locals. .

Harvey’s Has a Drainage Problem

It was a busy Saturday evening and we were warned that the kitchen was a bit slow. That’s fine. But it shouldn’t mean that quality is abandoned. Customers pay the same price whether it’s busy or slow. Our server was nice, but I asked for my side salad before the entrée. Unfortunately, it all came out at the same time. The salad had water in the bottom of the plate which I sopped up with a napkin. I got the grouper dinner broiled. Again, there was a lot of water in the bottom of the plate. It took 2 cocktail napkins to sop it all up. The flavor was fine. My wife got the Reuben sandwich. One of the slices of toasted rye was burnt and the other one was a soggy mess. I suspect that the kitchen keeps the corned beef in a hot water pan and then didn’t drain it properly before putting it on the toast. I didn’t want to take the time to completely remake the sandwich, so I asked for 2 fresh pieces of toasted rye and we would remake the sandwich. The new pieces of toast were also a bit soggy. Do they pre-toast the bread and then keep it somewhere steamy? As I say, Harvey’s has a drainage problem: the salad, the grouper, the Reuben… Prior visits were better. I won’t be in a hurry to return.

Spitballs during Covid

We have frequented Harvey's for decades and always loved it. Not sure what happened, but it seems as though they have gone way downhill in more ways than one. During Covid recently, we were seated at a table close to the bar area. The restaurant was not busy at all. The people up at the bar, one woman in particular, began using her straw to shoot spit balls down the bar to men she was flirting with. All of this during Covid. I made mention to the waitress and asked her to do something to stop this drunken behavior. Nothing was done from what we could see as the behavior continued. We waited a bit for our meal to be delivered, but the behavior became such that we were not comfortable staying. We paid for our drinks at a table and left before receiving our food. Very disappointing to see the changes. Management does not seem to care about even basic safety precautions.

Great find

This restaurant was recommended by a local so we gave it a try. Awesome Grouper sandwich and Florida gold sandwich with fresh handcut fries. It was a pleasant dining experience Fast friendly service and neat vintage looking interior of restaurant.

Never Disappoints

I was recently in town for a very solemn occasion. I met friends at Harvey's (one of my late mother's favorites) a couple of times. One time was for drinks, gab, and grouper bites. The grouper bites were very good. The drinks were okay (they tend to lean toward a beer menu so whiskies are not a priority). The gab was great! We were unhurried by the attentive yet not pushy staff. The other occasion was for lunch with another friend and the grouper sandwich was very, very good. Again, the laid-back neighborhood feel of the place was soothing and comfortable.

I Will Be Back !!

I've been here several times and have really enjoyed every aspect of this restaurant. Bartenders and servers really enjoy their jobs and the owner is hands on. A lot of thought went into providing good service and you can see it. A well oiled machine without a doubt. The food and drinks are spot on !

Nice Pub

Four of us went there for dinner. I had been there previously when I lived in St. Petersburg. First, we were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken. I had the fried shrimp dinner with cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The food was good. Others in my party had a hamburger, grouper sandwich, and chicken tenders. All found the food and service to be good.

Best of Local: Harvey's has been here for decades

Harvey's is consistent with everything from the atmosphere to service. The food is excellent. It is the best place for seafood, too. My most recent selection for dinner was fried mushrooms and a side salad. My buddy got the seafood platter and shared some of it--awesome.

Great food at Harvey’s 4th St Grill

We had never been to this place before. I googled restaurants near me and picked this one after the Rays and Oriole game at Tropicana Park. When I saw the Rays flag outside the bar I thought, oh no, since I am an Oriole fan! But the people were nice the servers were friendly and the food was great. I had the club sandwich and my partner had the seafood Fettachini Alfredo. He said it was fabulous with lots of scallops and shrimp. The club sandwich was delicious. We will def. go back when we are up in St. Pete’s again

Medium sized bar n grill in

Medium sized bar n grill in strip mall. Rustic ambiance- felt cozy. Service was fast and friendly. Grouper any way you like it! I love grouper and the super grouper was very good. The fried grouper sandwich was great. Homemade fries were great. Would return to try lemon pepper or blackened grouper.
