My wife and I have dined here before and thought food quality was mediocre and prices high. We went again last night with friends. The only hiccup was having to wait 30 minutes after already having a reservation However after that service was good. The Cesar salad was crisp and cold with good thick dressing, although we prefer the thinner type. My tuna was prepared perfectly at medium-rare with dense red center and pink to tan outer core. The soba noodles with passion fruit dressing and veggies were excellent as was my wife’s salmon.which too was cooked perfectly. If you think it’s easy to cook fresh salmon and tuna this well try it at home some day! The cream brûlée was also quite good. In sum, not sure what has changed but definitely better.

I have been here at least 10 times and the food is always great. The service can be slow, especially during these Covid days, and the prices are a bit on the high side, but I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. From the black and blue salad to clam chowder to pork sliders to daily specials, everything I have eaten here has been excellent. Yesterday I had the special which was blackened shrimp over pasta with lobster sauce and it was one of the best meals I've had anywhere in a very long time. You will not be disappointed if you eat here, but be prepared to pay a few dollars more than your average restaurant. And be patient with the service! They're doing the best they can during these weird times we're in.

Lynn and I met friends for a great lunch recently at 400 Beach after a visit to the nearby Fine Arts Museum. . We had not been to the restaurant in years. We were made quite comfortable by our really great server, Yvonne. This restaurant is on a strip of wonderful upscale restaurants. 400 Beach certainly holds its own. We started with an appetizer of flash fried Calamari ($12.50).. very good with lots of tentacles which I like. For an entree I had the Seafood Louis Salad ($18.00) which was amazing. Lynn had a Lobster Roll ($18.00) which she said was just okay. She has gotten use to the lobster being made with butter only as opposed to mayonnaise which is the way that most restaurants serve it. Lynn also had a glass of Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc ($7.50). A great dining experience right across from Tampa Bay.

Went to 400 for lunch on a weekday. Currently doing whole 30 and was craving a good piece of fish. 400 beach seafood and tap was listed as a whole 30 friendly restaurant so I headed there. While my diet is limited, the waiter seemed annoyed with my requests. (No gluten, soy, or dairy.) The waiter was not particularly helpful in locating options that could fit my restrictive diet. Eventually, I ordered a grilled piece of fish and seasoned veggies cooked in oil instead of butter. The veggies were delicious and well cooked. The fish was not nearly as good as other restaurants in the area. I love grouper but this cut was wimpy and didn’t have the characteristic flaky meaty texture of gulf grouper. The food took quite awhile as well. The valet parking was nice as parking is difficult in this area.

We visited this restaurant with our friends. Service was very good (Hannah) and was very attentive. My friend ordered the crispy Buffalo Shrimp which was definitely crispy and on the spicy side and for his entree the swordfish special which was very good. His wife ordered the Black and Blue Sirloin salad which was “just ok”. My wife ordered “grilled vegetables” with shrimp added. The grilled vegetables consisted of diced zucchini and 2 small slices of carrots. It was all zucchini which was disappointing. The shrimp were
grilled and didn’t have much flavor. I order Oyster Rockefeller for an appetizer and they were very good. There were 5 on the plate. For my main course ordered the Fish and Chips. It was presented very nice with what appeared to be a very large, crispy fillet with chips and cole slaw. Unfortunately, the fillet ended up being quite small and not very think. What made it appear much bigger was the fact that the breading, though crispy, was over ¼” thick all the way around. There was more breading than fish. The chips were different with the center like a French fry and the outer edges like a potato chip. They weren’t bad. The cole slaw was the best on the plate. It had a hint of pineapple. For dessert I got the Banana Bread Pudding. It’s presentation was not the best. It was very, very dense and a grey color which was not very appealing. It was on a “bed” of caramel and raisin sauce. I would pass on this. They do offer complimentary valet parking directly behind the restaurant. Don’t think we will return. Too many other choices in the area.

We visited St. Petersburg via ferry from Tampa. After a whirlwind trolley ride and visit to the Dali museum we had just over an hour left to have a late lunch and to get back to the ferry.
We headed for 400 Beach as I had checked their menu online before our trip and noticed that they served oysters and crab which we were looking forward to having.
Also, it was convenient to eat here where we could see the ferry docking across the green and make a dash if we had to for our return journey. But we had plenty time as service was fast and very good.
We ordered half dozen Gulf oysters, a beachside clam chowder, crab cakes with goat cheese & sweet corn and roasted blue cheese oysters. Everything was delicious!
My husband says it was the best meal on our trip!
It certainly was special and we really enjoyed the food and I think it was the ambience, sitting on the patio enjoying the view and the efficient service that all worked together to create a truly memorable St. Petersburg lunch.

Terrible place to eat. Expensive and below average food. We took 3 members of our family there for a nice dinner together. Calamari smelled so bad when the waiter brought it to our table; we should have returned them. The main dishes were below average; the fish not fresh, rice, tasteless and a few barely cooked vegetables. The waiter could have taken lessons in courtesy and friendliness. For a meal that cost us $200, we should have eaten at McDonald. Would never return there. Way overrated by Trip Advisor.

I normally rate every place rather highly, as you can see from all my reviews. But my meal this evening (4/17) was so disappointing I have to post a review. Great location, good wine list. Ordered Chilean Sea Bass. Entree was SO unappealing our server rushed to the kitchen and brought extra red wine reduction. But the portion was SO small, it was half the size of entrees at other fine restaurants. The sea bass was 1.25" by 1.75". Yes that small. There are SO many othet, BETTER options along the water in St Pete. Avoid this one!

My husband and I decided to stop by 400 Beach Seafood and Taphouse during our last night in St Petersburg, and we both agreed that it was the best meal of the trip. As soon as we walked in, I told my husband how pretty the decor was in the restaurant.
We started with the lobster Mac and cheese. My husband and I both ordered blackened shrimp with island rice and stir fried veggies. We were very pleasant with our selection. The food came promptly and our server was very helpful with answering our questions.
We both agreed if we are ever back in town that we would definitely return.

Our experience was up and down. First the reservation was for 7:00pm. We were seated at 7:20. The place had many very large parties, and we were seated (3 of us) at a table next to a room that had one very large and noisy party, making it difficult to hear. Eventually, they closed the sliding glass doors to that room, and that improved our ability to hear our own conversation. When dinner came, mine looked strange compared to the description for shrimp scampi. It had a lot of noodles and some mussels. As I poked around in it, I found other fish and a scallop, with just a few shrimp (3). When the waiter finally came back, I mentioned how odd my dish was. He replied that they don't have shrimp scampi on the menu, so he ordered linguini in a scampi style. (he really should have mentioned this!) I said that they do have it on the menu, and then he said "Oh, that's right. I ordered you the wrong thing". He did offer to get me what I ordered, but I refused that offer, as my companions were by now 1/3 of the way through their dishes. Finally, he said he would bring me some extra shrimp. He bought 2.
Would I return to this place? Not unless someone else is paying and invites me!

We had dinner at this popular seafood restaurant and everyone enjoyed their meals. We had the coconut ginger mussels, grilled sea scallops with soba noodles and sweet chili sauce and and Chef Dan's fish spread for appetizers. All were tasty, I especially liked the scallops which were perfectly cooked. For dinner I had the grilled wahoo special with crispy Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes. It was vey good, but perhaps cooked a little too long (It was a bit dry). Other members of our party had the grilled king crab (he said it was excellent), the wahoo special blackened, the seafood linguine (not a scrap left on the plate) and the 400 Beach salad. It was a wonderful meal and no one had room for desert. On weekend I suggest making a reservation and sit outdoors if the weather is nice. The strive was professional and friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

I've lived in St. Pete for sometime now. I finally decided to visit 400 Beach Seafood Thursday night. Located in the heart of downtown on Beach Drive with sidewalk seating, it's definitely a place popular with the tourists to enjoy people watching and the beautiful views. The hostess was very accommodating to my request for dining indoors closest to the windows. I was greeted by a friendly waiter who took my order of the Mizo Glazed Salmon. I asked if the salmon could be grilled with blackened seasoning instead and he assured me it was no problem. I loved that the kitchen has such flexibility and the wait staff made it seem like no big deal. Unfortunately, my salmon was overcooked to the point where the fish wouldn't even flake with my fork, the "island rice" was sweet coconut flavored rice, and the stir fried vegetables were mediocre. I wanted to like this place especially since I always see people here enjoying themselves (I think?) but it just didn't happen. Was my experience bad? No. Would I return? No.

After visiting the museums and waling in St. Pete, we were hungry. We went here for dinner at 6:00. It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside. Service by Hannah was ok. The entrees we had were the Coconut shrimp, Tofu stir fry, glazed salmon and blackened tilapia. The prix fix option came with a salad, entrée and a chef’s choice dessert. Everything was very good. The view of the water was nice and we enjoyed watching the pedestrian strolling by. 2-18-2020

Thought we would have a light dinner at a convenient location, but we were very disappointed
When we arrived most tables were empty, but the hostess looked harried, running around cleaning tables.
Seated ourselves at her direction.
Waitress seemed hurried too.
Ordered lobster roll for me and grouper sandwich for my Husband.
Food arrived, the grouper sandwich was okay but overpriced. My lobster roll was not okay. Served on a stale roll, there was about a half cup of lobster and some lettuce. The lobster was overwhelmingly salty as were the fries that accompanied both our meals.
Ordered a coke, it came in a 6oz glass, never had a soft drink so small.
Dishes were plopped down in front of us and i had to ask for forks and napkins.
Ate the lobster because i was hungry, but i should have sent it back. Gave part of the stale roll to my dog.
No one asked if our order was ok, had to flag down a waitress for the bill, which cost us $67.41 for 2 skimpy meals, a coke and a Heineken. With the tip, the bill came to over $80.00, definitely not worth the price. Never again.

Came here for brunch on the fly. I should have known something was amiss when I was able to get a reservation within the hour. There’s a buffet set up with cold and hot options as well as a carving station, omelettes and desserts. The food was just mediocre. I expected more from the location. Most of the food seemed old or made with cheap ingredients. Even the omelet was rubbery and had a stale flavor. The shrimp were not juicy and I was nervous to didn’t eat more than one. Our server, Margaret was attentive and lovely so that’s why I gave more than one star. With this amazing location they could really do more here. Disappointing.
