This is a largely undiscovered gem in down town St Petersburg FL. Located on the second floor of the Albert Whited Airport, The Hanger offers inside and outside dining. We have been numerous times and have never dined inside. In my humble opinion, the only place to dine is on the outside deck area with the view, sounds and aromas of departing and arriving light aircraft and helicopters. The service is consistently first class and the menu and prices are a pleasant surprise. It is all about "location, location, location, But the prices don't reflect the amazing location and experience. Do yourself a favor and check it out. If you could possibly get in during the St Pete Grand Prix, You would have the most amazing observation platform because the cars race right past your outside table!!!

Our family that lives in the downtown area suggested we try brunch at this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The service and food were all very good and served timely from a very friendly staff. The fun part as you are looking out at the activity of a small airport (either seated inside or out) which is unusual. Our hosts say they eat breakfast at The Hangar frequently and it's always good food.

A group of us visited The Hanger at Albert Whitted Airport for lunch today. We sat out on the patio watching planes land and take off, while enjoying excellent food at really good prices. Can't wait to go back.

Initially they sat us right in front of the kitchen door with a nice view of the bathrooms. Then after an additional wait for an outside table we were sat in the corner next to the outside waiter station with an overflowing trash bag on the side. Half of our party or 4 could see the airport while the other half stared at a concrete corner and rusted-out speaker. The sever was very soft spoken. We asked if there was a special for the day and she replied "yes"....after an addtional question of "what is it?", she further explained. The food? Just as bad. I ordered breakfast. After a lengthy wait for our food, my plate came dirty. Besides my food there was additional "stuff" on the plate. The grits were in a big clump and kept the shape of the bowl when I put them on my plate. I had to ask for an additional cup of hot water to try to stir into them. However all of my was cold. And the multigrain toast was a very dry heel section. My wife had the burger. She said it was mediocre and did not come dressed as she ordered it. As we are trying to enjoy a nice family lunch out in downtown St Pete for New Year's this was a terrible experience. I really am surprised the food was sent out as it was and our experience was very disappointing. I would not visit this restaurant again.

Great food, reasonably priced good service. What’s not to like? Located on the second floor of the St. Pete downtown General Aviation airport, it was a pleasant surprise. We went for breakfast and was not disappointed. Other than the omelet being slightly over cooked when we asked for ‘cooked soft’, we have nothing but praise for this place. Easy walk to the Salvatore Dali Museum which is more or less next door.

Excellent food. We did outdoor seating. I had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, very delicious and their snack wedge salad. Some in our group had their hamburgers which all of them said was very good and one person had their fish tacos, which they also said was very good. Enjoyed being able to sit there and observe the planes coming and going.

We met family there for brunch. First hurdle ..... entrance to parking lot blocked off for an event. OK, no big deal, we found another way in. Restaurant is on the 2nd floor and it was busy at noon on Sunday. Wait time for a table was about 20 minutes, not to bad. First impressions of the restaurant.... unkept. When our table was ready and our hostess walked us to to the table, she passed the kitchen area and just the door opened and I got a quick glance and the filthy floor. We had a table at the window and were able to watch the planes land and take off. That was pretty nice. As mentioned, it was busy, so service was a bit sow. Food selection is OK and pricing is on par for a tourist town. Wasn't to impressed with my dish "Wheels Up Bowl" . The sausage was so overcooked that it was impossible to cut. And the red bell peppers in the dish were mush. Nobody at the table made any comments on their food (good or bad). When we left, I needed to use the restroom. there are 2 unisex restrooms on the 2nd floor and a sign stating there are more restrooms on the 1st floor. Had I seen the restroom prior to ordering, I would have not eaten there. It was filthy!! The floors looked like they had not been mopped in a long time. And the rest of the room didn't look any better. I spoke to the hostesses regarding the situation and they stated they would have someone take care of it. Didn't wait around to see if anything was done about it or not.

I just spent what was to be a great night with friends, the host and server were awesome. The food was just pathetic, basic patty melt and fries. I got a burger patty between two slices of stale marble rye, no melt, no cheese, and over cooked fries. What a mess. I was with a group and did not address at the time as our time together was more important than the $12.00 wasted on what should have been a casual burger at the airport restaurant. Never again Don’t waste your money this place has really hit bottom from where it used to be James

Used to come here a lot when I first moved to the area. Having breakfast while typing this review. Waitresses are lounging on a couch, no drink refills and customers are waiting on the patio. Bacon is rubbery and the biscuit because there is no white toast is fresh from the microwave. Sad because the other restaurants in this group like 400 Beach are always great. Might be a bad day but management needs to check in.

Very unexpected delicious lunch at airport across the street from the Dali museum. You can even park here for free and walk across the street to the museum…save $10 parking fee. The chicken salad was fresh served with warm chips. Salads are also fresh. Watch the planes while you eat. Music in the evenings.

What a shame that this great restaurant was empty on our first visit. We sat outside and watched the planes come and go. The food is excellent and reasonable. I was suspicious when I saw how inexpensive the food and drinks cost, however, I was pleasantly surprised. They make a great old fashion and the whisky sour was just right. The food was amazing. I shared the mushroom ravioli with my husband. It was so good I should have ordered my own. The cheesecake desert was delicious. I am glad we shared that one, it was just the right size for sharing. I was so disappointed that the room was empty. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating, they need your support to live. I was just visiting but when I come back this is the place to go for a great dinner meal and desert.

This casual but upscale eatery is on the second floor of the aviation building in downtown Saint Pete’s. The small private airport what is the site of the very first commercial airline in the country. From here passengers could fly to Tampa. His flight saved a long journey around Tampa Bay to reach the van county seat. The building is modern. The view is of the airport. There are frequent helicopter and airplane flights until a little bit after dark. The food is excellent. The owner also owns 400 Beach. Wednesday’s are my favorite night. There is live music, a quiet kind of guitar jazz, and a tremendous hamburger special. These hamburgers are worth the trip. The dress is decidedly casual .

My husband and I went there against friends telling us it was not good. Should have listened. Went for breakfast on 12/12/20 and was very disappointed. I had the driest waffle I have ever had, I also asked the waitress if they had real maple syrup and was told they did, but it was not. My husband had eggs, home fries that were not hot and a pancake that was rubbery. Needless to say we will never return. Too many other options that are great. I guess the only attraction is that it's at the Airport. Don't waste your time or money.

We went here for a late lunch (1:30) and sat outside. We ordered several items from the menu to learn they were out of them all. We ordered an appetizer (nachos) and it was was very good with blueberry BBQ sauce. The other couple ordered a sandwich without onions and it came with onions. My wife and I were finished with our meal when their sandwich arrived. The waitress seemed more intent on "catching her bus" then waiting on us. We had to ask for everything from refills to knapniks. We will try again but pray that the waitress has found a job more suitable to her attitude.

The food is average, but it’s priced for the location. Located at the airport, on the water, next to the Dali museum, the location is wonderful. If only the kitchen could produce food that was worthy of the location. Our table of five had burgers, a grilled chicken sandwich, and an order of tacos. Out of that selection of food, the burgers were served almost raw, when they were requested medium well. When they were re-done, they just about made it to rare, nowhere near medium-well. The chicken was half-eaten, and the tacos were left behind on the table, just the way they were served, uneaten. The one bright spot of the meal was that the bartender knew how to mix a great Rumrunner. My suggestion for enjoying this restaurant: find a table near the window to enjoy the view, and order a drink and anything simple that the kitchen can’t possibly mess up.
