When you see Walt'z, you may expect this cute little shack to serve up wings and cheap beer, but you'd be wrong! This restaurant unapologetically serves up only the freshest local seafood. We sampled the fish spread, snapper , scallops, and grouper. Everything was prepared perfectly. My only criticism is that the side dishes should be a step above , especially... More

Made a special journey here as food excellent but this trip we left disgusted with management. Barmaid (think owners wife/daughter) very rude and condescending. We are English so quite used to eccentric behavior but she left us seething and totally spoilt our evening and to make matters worse wine was revolting. Won't be going back.

Walked to John's Pass on our 4th night. Ended up at Walt'z Fish Shak. It's a very small place with a small area that you can sit outside. We chose to sit outside and look at the water. Another couple was out there and turned out they were also from Saugerties, NY,what's the chances!!!! I had the fresh caught Gulf... More

We've stopped going to Walt'z - much as we lve the fish, the proices have gone through the roof and there are never any options other than a salad or island rice and peas. 'there are better restaurants, with more choices and lower prices now so, unfortunately, we won't be going back on a regular basis as we used to.... More

The fish couldn't be fresher! Walt'z serves what is caught that day, and when they run out, they close for the day. The menu varies according to what is caught, and the menu is on chalkboards. We had grouper and amberjack. The fish is prepared simply: grilled, blackened, or lighly breaded. The fish is so fresh, no fancy preparation is... More

The food was terrible and overpriced. My shrimp came out to be 6 dollars per shrimp. I only got 5 shrimp in all. The rice had no seasoning with beans in it!!!! The place had a VERY small menu. The grouper cake appetizer was 5 dollar per cake, and you only get 2. The shrimp had cheap seasoning you could... More

I just visited and I must say the food was good. My problem came after I paid and was leaving. The owner, older lady sitting outside, said you have to pay your bill and tried to keep me from leaving. I had the receipt in my pocket, with a good tip on it, showing I paid. The waitress came and... More

We read about this place and planned to visit. It's a little hard to find and we were very surprised at how ratty the outside of the building was. We never made it inside. The owner (I think) was sitting outside and pointed to the menu written on a chalkboard before telling us they couldn't take credit cards. No menu's?... More

This is a fresh seafood joint. Outside and indoor seating w a bar. Only wine and beer. The grouper cakes ($10) for 2 were excellent. The Gulf shrimp blackened were good sized and their freshly made rice&beans and coleslaw were a treat. We also tried the asparagus soup (refreshing). Closed Sunday and Monday. The owners were there (which they are... More
