We dined here with my sister and brother-in-law tonight and it lived up to their raves about it. We had a shrimp cocktail to start and it was fresh and huge. Next 3 of us got grouper and the 4th swordfish. Fresh and excellant. We have diatery issues and they were so accommodating. Our waitress was Kate and she was... More

Had high hopes, everyone we encountered raved about this place. The pros; they take reservations & our server was very nice and accommodating. The Cons; the coconut fried shrimp is the same processed crap you can buy in bulk at any restaurant supplier. The Grouper was served swimming in fry oil and water, the Mahi Mahi was rubbery and tasted... More

After an afternoon show at Barbara B. Mann theater, we often head to the nearby Prawnbroker restaurant for an evening meal--along with many others from the theater! Reservations are a good idea because although the restaurant seats a lot of people in the various little rooms, it is quite popular and without reservations, be prepared to wait. Our wait this... Very nice quiet atmosphere which was perfect for both a good meal and visiting with friends. Both the grouper and shrimp were very good. They were served with green beans which was a nice change from fries. The waitress did try to rush us and was coming back every few minutes to see if we were ready to leave.

I have been happy with both of my beef or fish choices, the steak was done to my request and the salmon was done with a good sauce

My husband, sister and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday night. We got there about 5:30 and had about an hour wait. We sat outside in the bar area and ordered a drink and an appetizer. We were very surprised to learn that regarding their specialty drinks, they were out of the alcohol that they needed to make them.... More

I feel badly because our experience did not match so many others. Manhattan Clam Chowder was wonderful. But that was it. Chef salad with anchovies, grouper, and coconut shrimp was just average. Don't think I would drive out of my way for this one again.

Have been going here for many years. Value of the early dinner is excellent and was well prepared. Restaurant was full but service was still very good.

Description
Walking through the front doors, guests are greeted by the in-house seafood market, where the Prawnbroker showcases their specially chosen fresh fillets of fish and beef, hand-cut on premise, that are sure to tempt the palates of all. To emphasize their commitment to buying local and bringing you the freshest seafood Ft. Myers has to offer, you'll find our hand picked selection straight from the local waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Here you'll get a peek at the sumptuous fare that you'll soon be enjoying from their comfortable yet elegant dining room. Feast your eyes on mouth-watering Snapper, Gulf Shrimp, Softshell Crabs, Mahi Mahi, and the best Grouper Florida has to offer. Small tubs of pale pink creamy shrimp bisque stand in line next to bases for both kinds of chowder - New England style being what the restaurant is most famous for, a nod to the original owners' home region. Diners consistently return to enjoy these favorites plus the greatest Florida Stone crabs (in season) and Maine Lobsters.
