Had reservations and arrived on time. The hostess took us to a table, however we werent seated there after a discussion she had with a server. The same thing happened at her second seating choice. The three of us were just standing in the middle of the restaurant watching, waiting and wondering. Finally we were seated.WE oredered a bottle of Chianti Rigoletto, $32, which was very good. We were served some of the best crusty italian bread I have tasted, with olive oil. Excellent. For an appetizer we shared the Salad Contadino, $13, compising a smaller mound of arugala, a few slices of grilled eggplant , peppers, tomatoes and olives. All was very good but to me, for the price, it was a little skimpy on the vegetables. Two of us had the Veal Ossobuco, $29, tender slowly cooked veal in a delicious sauce on top of polenta. Very good . My friend had the Dover Sole Special, $48, filleted tableside and accompanied with some lemon wine sauce and a small potion of vegetables. A very nice entree, at a very dear price. For dessert we shared the LimoncelloTiramisu, $9, and the Cofee Tiramisu, $8, both very similar, creamy, light and airy. While dining the restaurant presented a festive atmosphere with the chef, yes the chef, singing a few tunes. Service was good, not great. All in all a relatively good experience with a rocky start. Will will return...especially for that bread.MMMMM.

Recently visiting Ft Lauderdale from Maryland with friends, we dined here on a Friday night in January - and discovered not only delicious food, but a wait staff and chef that bring "Italy" to South Fla. On our visit the chef grabbed a microphone and serenaded us all with lively Italian songs, while the waiters and servers grabbed tambourines or simply waved creme-colored napkins high about their heads to the lively music. What a treat! We even were treated to a special garlic bread, soft and buttery, hot from the oven. We loved our visit so much that we returned with our family for my husband's birthday a week later - to the same delicious food and, this time, a guitarist who had our feet stomping. This is a true Italian restaurant with a strong family feel. Everyone there seems so happy ! Thank you Dal Contadino. We'll definitely be back!

We stopped here last week at night for just “a last drink and a bite” on our way home (in WPB) from a day trip in Miami. The restaurant is located in strip mall, facing a busy and loud major street, but the inside of the restaurant has a very cozy ambience and is decorated to match a real Italian trattoria. The restaurant was full when we arrived, inside and even outside where they have a few tables close to the street (also a detail that reminds you of the setting of Italian trattorias in the cities). Luckily for us, their relatively small bar was empty, and… they still had HH! This is one of the rare restaurants offering HH every day of the week from 4pm to 10 pm (or 10:30pm on Fri and Sat). We drank a Negroni and a Dolce Pomagrante (which is likely misspelled for pomegranate), both were only $11.00 in HH. Our bartender was Anthony and he sure knows how to prepare great cocktails: they were both very good and strong (the Negroni was definitely the best I had in South FL so far). While waiting for the bites, we had some bread with olive oil with pepperoncino (spicy pepper), which they make there and was very good and hot. We then shared and enjoyed very much the Zucchini flowers and the Veal ossobuco with saffron risotto; I also tried the Tuscany tripe (which I don’t find very often, and it’s a food that reminds me of my childhood in Italy). All bites were just $ 6 in HH, but we also checked their regular prices and they are very affordable as well. One challenge there can be the parking: you will find some spots because the strip is very long, but weird thing is that for all parking spots on the side of the buildings you will need to pay (24/7). However if you find a spot on the side on Oakland Blvd, then they are free. Free parking or not: we will definitely return!

We have eaten at the restaurant a number of times and have written a review before. I have left this review for a few months to think before I write. There were 10 of us and we were given the table we requested in the back area. I order Veal Milanese. It was like eating cardboard, had no taste and had obviously been left to keep warm waiting for other food on the table to be cooked. After eating a third, I drew this to the waitresses attention and she offered to get another one. I said no, it had put me off. when the bill was presented, I thought there might have been an adjustment, but I was wrong. I asked to see the manager, who was a lady around early 30s. I suggested that she might like to charge only half - $18 instead of $36. Not only did she refuse, but was very rude. She said I had been offered another piece of meat - yes I do enjoy eating after everyone else. So I paid the $36 and did not leave a tip. the tip would have been found $70. Some people just don't get it. We will not be returning.

Hello Stelondon, Thank you for taking time and leaving us your feedback! Just to clarify: The Veal Milanese was addressed properly with you since the very beginning from the waitress, however seemed like refused any kind of changes or replacements multiple times with the her. After everyone finished their meals including yours, your requested a full refund and stated that will not pay for the bill or tip the waitress! We treat everyone with respect and we expect the same.. We are sorry you were so disappointed and frustrated ! Our Veal Milanese is prepared with a lot of care and close attention..if a dish is not to guest's taste buds or whatever reason we kindly offer replacement. After the meal is done and over, unfortunately we are not able to do so.. Please understand we are using high quality food ingredients, and keep our menu in very reasonable level for the quality ! We will be most happy to see you again if you decide to come back visit us when you are back in Florida again! Regards, Kremena Giannino

Terribly disappointing as this is a restaurant we frequent because it used to be a neighborhood gem. I believe they just opened their new restaurant Fish And Bubbles and either they are paying more attention to that because our meal tonight was just mediocre at best. The Tuscan steak was a piece of shoe leather and it was served extra rare when we ordered a medium rare. The highlight was Monica as she was a wonderful server and had nothing to do with the food. Totally totally disappointing tonight. The short rib ravioli was gummy and extremely unsatisfying. Just can’t believe the difference a couple of months makes. Absolutely terrible experience. Will take a lot to get us back and we are locals in the neighborhood

I’m trying to stay low carb and that can be difficult for lunch at an Italian Restaurant. They had a few options so that is good. Sunday after church is the hardest for me to stick to my eating plan. I ordered the ribeye, charred on the outside and medium on the inside. It was cooked perfectly. The vegetables were asparagus and marinated artichokes and they had a good taste. We tried the bread because all the breads are homemade. I had just a little piece so that I could see the flavor. Many times the bread of a place tells you the vibe for the restaurant. The homemade bread was very good. However, I prefer butter with my bread and they had no butter. Also the waitress told me they don’t do substitutions with the entrées. Other than those two negative things the rest was all positive. The service was good. One of the servers there made sure that my water glass was always filled up. She was just so sweet. We ate outside and it was well shaded. That’s a good thing to know if you’re in 80° weather. I would definitely go back again. We made an open table reservation so we didn’t have to worry about seating being available.

Manuele was our server. He was amazing and helpful when it came to recommendations. We ordered the charcuterie and artichokes for appetizers which were amazing. They had gluten free pasta which made it possible to have the Ragu Della Nonna. Dessert was limited to gelato with espresso but it was the perfect ending. The limoncello fresco was a delicious drink. Hands down the best meal on our trip to FLL.

All covid protocols in place. Beautiful dinner! Although we can’t travel at the moment, Felt like we were in Italy! Tanya our server was most hospitable & her suggestions were on point! The atmosphere was a page out of a Roman cafe, with live acoustic music from Oscar. We started with strong limoncello martinis, followed by fresh fried calamari, the tenderest grilled octopus, and an abundant antipasto. Mains consisted of homemade pastas: linguine Alfredo, linguine bolognese & lasagna accompanied by a super Tuscan red wine. Topped off with homemade cannoli & brownie dessert. All I can say is Grazie for the closest thing to an Italian vacation meal away from home❤️

Very sad to see the decline they used to be a neighborhood gem but they’ve been opening a number of other restaurants in the neighborhood and clearly have moved their management team away from this location. So sad to see another great spot fall victim to horrible wait staff and oversight. Too many items went wrong, but summing it up, orders not put in, two hours for food to arrive, and then the orders did not arrive at table leaving one diner without a meal, did not replace utensils had to ask buss person for the fork, and then the food delivered was WRONG!, rude waiter, had to find manager, no follow up. 2 hours and 40 min from seating to check.

We selected this restaurant for our anniversary celebration after reviewing best options on TA. We were overwhelmed by this special place. The authentic decor, background music and welcoming staff was truly outstanding. Our waitress, the delightful Vira was wonderful. She and her colleagues helped to make our special occasion very special. On Tuesdays bottles of wine are half price, so that helped our level of enjoyment. The menu was very varied with plenty of quality vegetarian choices on offer. I cannot overstate my heartfelt recommendation to anyone in FL looking for an authentic and high-quality Italian restaurant. Thank you for making our evening so memorable.

Thank you to our server Monica and the service staff and kitchen for a special meal with my mom. You guys were awesome. But as I suggested to owner, hostess Paula has to change her delivery of customer service, she is too dry and not so pleasant, and its not the image of a good restaurant you should leave with. Hopefully that change can happen for the positive. No business needs the wrong front person describing their image. Then, to top it off, when we were finished with meal, waiting for final check, the same hostess, Paula, came to our table, we thought she maybe trying to chanfe our perception, instead she proceeded to insult us by telling us she was going to be needing our table soon. So while waiting for a $400 meal bill, she made us unwelcome again. Would love to see this wonderful restaurant train front personnel to be customer service oriented and protect business image.

I had this wonderful troccoli pasta with a generous serving of tender clams in their shells ,delicately touched by a tasty wine sauce. Sometimes you see pasta swimming in a sauce and it ruins the dish, but this was just perfect. We started off with salad contadino , which included warm grilled vegetables & arugula. Loved It. The only negative was our waitperson , who was new. She tried hard, but should have been better trained. We had to ask for bread, a dish for the clam shells, etc. But, we had a splendid dinner & looking forward to next time.

Very nice restaurant on Oakland Blvd! The bar is small but we sat there as we didn’t want a full dinner after a day spent in Miami (which always involves eating). I really liked the décor, very warm, it makes you feel relaxed as soon as you get in. We had the zucchini flowers, very good and creamy and I had a very good Veal Ossobuco; that is an appetizer, but it’s a decent portion and it was super tender. My wife went with the tripes: I tried them and they were okay. Anthony, who apparently is normally not the bartender, but works at tables, provided probably one of the best Negroni cocktail I had in 22 years of Florida: perfect balance and strong to the right point. Also my wife’s cocktail was good, a Dolce Pomegranate, that I thought would have been much sweeter than it actually was. Really enjoy this spot and we ended up spending almost 2 hours at the bar. I look forward to go back for an actual dinner or lunch; it’s definitely in my list.

Another fabulous dinner at Dal Contadino with our favorite server, Anthony, who always remembers our preferences. For a recent special occasion, we ordered the Ossobuco—tender (beyond belief!) and flavorful with a side of vegetables, a huge salad of arugula/tomatoes/olives and grilled zucchini/artichokes/eggplant, delectable pasta Bolognese (enough for two more meals at home), and a perfect Amarone. How does Chef Nuccio prepare dishes that taste so scrumptious without too much salt? (Guessing that Puglia Italy is a great place to learn.) This is not your typical American Italian restaurant where everything is smothered in cheese. Dal Contadino is for diners who appreciate authentic regional cuisine. Happy Hour at the bar (only!) with delicious, affordable appetizers and a great selection of Italian wine and tempting cocktails. Live music on certain evenings, and an extra special treat when Andrea Del Principe performs. Charming, cozy atmosphere and superior service (so rare these days in this area), plus food that is worth the trip, no matter where you live adds up to a truly five star experience. Extremely highly recommended! (Just be careful when parking because half the spaces in this lot are metered.)
