Large restaurant had some nice views of the harbor in Destin. The greeters were friendly enough, but not aware of seating areas and closing time. We arrived before 8:30 pm and were told by them that the restaurant was closed. As we stood looking puzzled, a supervisor from the bar suddenly came forward to say that the section on the other side of the bar was still open for business. He asked how many in our party, and had us quickly seated. An experienced waitress got our drinks going, and answered questions about the menu specials. We ordered the Roasted Grouper and Sauteed Snapper. Both were excellent. What a difference fresh makes and when the chef knows how to cook to perfection! Well seasoned, sides complimented the entrees. Dinner entrees are over $30 per plate. Portion is ample but not over sized. No worries, you will not leave hungry!

So Wonderful We Went Back Twice

Okay, so this place is amazing! First, SUPER dog friendly! We took the fur babies twice and they can even sit in the covered patio area that has heaters! The service was outstanding both times, the food was just delicious and it has a nice atmosphere . Absolutely can't wait to go back. Disclaimer.....you are going to a seafood restaurant in a tourist destination, so expect pricing to be in line with that - but this place is so worth it. Fun adult beverages too!

ON the wharf with lots of window seats. Area outside for people with dogs, and lots of outdoor seating. Large place. No masks on any hostess or server. Tables somewhat close but not right together. We split a "shaker salad" ( served in a mason jar) but just regular lettuce and such. $10.95 for the uniqueness I guess. Catch of the day was swordfish on grits $29.95 hubby rates it a 4 I had the grouper sandwich blackened and it and the fries were fabulous. Best fries yet. Would rate it 5 except for the salad price and lack of masks.

I have been coming to Destin for vacation for more than 15 years. I found Boshamps about 5-6 years ago. All the restaurants I have visited this last week have had servers,etc wear masks. Here no staff that I saw wore a mask, not even the food server. I arrived at 6:00 and waited approx 1.5 hrs which is not unusual here as this is popular and normally crowded. The discontinued my favorite item, the fried chicken and had a smoke chicken but was $32.95. Overall it was a decent meal but $150 for 2 adults and 3 teenagers (no paid drinks, appetizers or dessert). Maybe my last visit

LONG Wait, small portions but the food is good.

Went with family and three small children, we waited for well over 90 minutes for a table for 10. Then then when we got inside the split up our group to two separate tables. The woman seating us tossed menus on the tables pointed and walked away... thankfully that wasn't our waitress! Our waiter was good, but not very attentive; we had to look for him because there was no salt on the table! Then when he brought the salt it was a grinder and it didn't work and my wife gave up at that point and ate it without salt. I ordered the Pan Roasted Gulf Grouper and it was good, the soufflé was burnt and very dry, the grouper was perfectly cooked but it was only two pieces and more the portion size of an appetizer and not a main! My son had the Cornmeal Dusted Gulf Grouper Pecan and he said it was good, he ate all of it and then asked when the main was coming! My wife ordered a hamburger ate half and gave me half; it was good but the meat was dry. My Daughter-in-law also ordered the hamburger and shared half of her burger with my son, who said the hamburger was dry as well. The children had the chicken and fish kids meals and there wasn't anything left. We also did try the macaroni and cheese and it was very good.

Completely overrated, terrible service

After visiting Destin several times over the years our family finally decided to make the trek down to Boshamps from our place on Crystal Beach, boy what a mistake! From the get go the struggle was real. A line just for the honor of them parking your car before 4:30 in the afternoon greeted us as we arrived. Once inside we were told for a table a wait of an hour to an hour and a half is to be expected. Not unusual for Destin this time of year, so no complaint there. We walked the property to check it out. There's a beach for the kids to get filthy in, etc before a nice dinner lol. After our wait we were seated on the deck on the corner of the southwest edge of the building. This area is covered, but at sunset it bears down on guests on that side. Initially when we arrived I noted this, but they did not have anyone seated there, so I didn't worry. I also kept my eye on that location to see if they would seat anyone there. Lo and behold our number comes up and bingo, we were seated there. We waited an hour and 30 minutes for a table that stayed empty that whole effing time. Because I have two kids we decided to tough it out because of the obnoxious wait times in Destin right now. Before we ordered our food the two tables to the east of us in the shade just had guests leave. Since we had only been served water at that point I asked the hostess if we could move to one of those tables. She told me absolutely not. We sat there and watched with our eyes and skin burning in the sun as nobody sat at those tables for over 30 minutes. Since Destin is a tough place to eat we ordered our food at our sun drenched table since we probably wouldn't be able to eat at this point until nine at night. The smoked tuna dip appetizer was dry. The gumbo was average. Instead of ordering some expensive seafood I decided this joint was no longer worth hard earned money and I ordered a cheeseburger out of spite. I have never in my life been treated as poorly than I have at this restaurant. Nearly every staff member here acts like they are doing you a favor by you eating here. I will NEVER visit or recommend this place to anyone as long as I live. I stand by every word of this review.

I'm going to get right to it-This place is outstanding! We took a Tiki Sunset Cruise (another thing you should check out!!!) and when we asked Captain Sandy where we needed to eat, she said Boshamps was #1. And she was right! My sister & I wanted to try several different things on the menu, and everything we picked was absolutely delicious! The oysters and feta dip were a delicious start (my mouth is watering just thinking about them) and they came out quickly! We also split a wedge salad before our actual entrees came, and it was great. For our main course, we decided to go with the Yankee Lobster mac 'n cheese and the Boshamps basket, which included fried snapper, hush puppies, french fries & coleslaw. I can't repeat myself enough that this food was DELICIOUS! And you get hefty portions. Definitely worth splitting, and we had so much leftover that we picked on the next couple days. The Lobster Mac was VERY rich (as our waitress kindly informed us about before ordering) so we could only take a few bites that night, but it was honestly worth it (especially if you're willing to split it so you can try other things). If you're in Destin, you need to eat here!

I am really perplexed why this restaurant is so popular. In my experience Boshamps checks off four of the five reasons I avoid a restaurant. I really thought with a wait time of close to two hours for a party of four this place would be spectacular. It wasn’t. Our server was pretty great, and the appetizers, Fried Green Tomato and Jumbo Lump Crab and the Baked Pimento Cheese came out quickly and were excellent, but we had barely gotten through half of them before our entrees were tossed on our table. It really went downhill from there. The restrooms were unclean, my entre was gelatinously undercooked, in fact raw, and had to be sent back, and it was actually cooler standing outside than at our table, which made me feel terrible for our server. Add to that the pricing for food that is plated well, but pretty average, and who cares how pretty a plate looks if you cut into your food and it is raw. I will pass on Boshamps from now on.

Best restaurant in Destin

My husband and I come here for at least one meal every time we come to Destin. The food is delicious every time. I will admit during the summer months when they are swamped the quality of food and service can dip just a little, but I would still give it a 5 out of 5. Our waitress this most recent trip was probably the best server we have ever had here. We both had the cornmeal crusted flounder and it was incredible!!! We had the pecan pie dessert and it was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant and we WILL be back the next time we are in the area.

Excellent food. Fried oysters were fresh and flavorful. Others said the grilled grouper was the best they’d ever had. Fried grouper was perfectly done according to some. Service was excellent and our server was friendly and efficient and easily handled our group of 10. View of the harbor is outstanding.

Great food but need more covid care

The food and drinks at Boshamps were excellent. However, we were made very uncomfortable by the server who visited our table without a mask and interacted very closely with us, leaning over our table and on our chairs while speaking maskless. We were all wearing masks between courses, so you'd think she would have realized this is a table that cares about at least trying to be safe, and put hers on. We had also called ahead to verify that there was outdoor seating, but the outdoor seating turned out to be a tent that's completely closed in, so basically the same as indoor seating or even worse because there's not HVAC blowing air around. I would go back here after the pandemic - again, the food was very, very delicious - but until then, it's not worth the risk.

Arrived at 3:00 pm, had a beer and ordered Maine lobster bites, dozen each of two different oysters on the half shell and grilled grouper. The food was amazing. The fish and lobster portions were on the small side. The wife and I shared a little of each. Kind of pricey, $102., but food was fabulous!

After reading so many other great reviews, we opted to come here for ourselves. The place was packed Sunday so we got there shortly after they opened Monday for lunch. No crowds and prime seats with a view. Cleanest, freshest oysters, great beer selection and the red snapper with grits has me craving more. This place is worth every penny! We will definitely be back!

Boshamps is consistently THE BEST restaurant, arguably in the entire panhandle. The food is out of this world and the service is always on point. The restaurant is clean, the staff is so friendly, the location can’t be beat. I’ve literally never had less than an excellent experience. If you’re worried about your servers wearing gloves and masks, you need to review the CDC guidelines. Masks are not necessary and gloves can actually cause more harm than good; or just stay home in your cocoon. Snapper Destin is the best meal you’ll ever eat, but you really can’t go wrong.

Beautiful restaurant with views overlooking the water. The food was very good and the service (Thanks, John) was excellent. Unique take on fried okra...they fry it whole! The dipping sauce for them is wonderful. The raw “nekkid” oysters were perfection. The oyster poboy was the best. Crab claws = fantastic! Oysters Rockefeller were delicious!The kid’s burger was raw when we cut into it, but that was handled immediately. Great place!
