Had dinner at Sawa this past weekend...here are my thoughts: The good: service was excellent and friendly, the outdoor seating was absolutely perfect and a highlight. The not-so-good: food is average at best, which was disappointing considering how delicious everything sounded on the menu. Prices...are on the higher side but the quantity served is decent so that was good. I doubt we'll return but glad we tried Sawa!More

Our first visit and it was a pleasure. Food was Japanese Asian fusion and very tasty. Everything turned out better than anticipated.

We ventured out to Sawa in Merrick Park for Miami Spice and were a little disappointed by our experience. The food varied in taste and quality. I had the Hamachi Crudo (which was really good) and the Merguez and Halloumi skewers. The skewers were okay,...but nothing to write home about. Of the two desserts on the Miami Spice menu, the restaurant was out of one of them. The panna cotte was the only dessert that I could eat, due to food allergies. It would have been nice if they offered us a substitute dessert, but instead, we were only left with one option. It may have been just a bad night, but I would have to think twice about going back.More

Arrived here with high hopes, as other restaurants in the complex have exceeded expectations. Sadly, this was the exception. Our server, while friendly enough, was rather indifferent as to timely and proactive service. Had to wait for too long for everything. And when the food...arrived, it was disappointing. Ordered a Mongolian beef dish that was probably the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. Rubbery doesn’t even begin to describe it! Was never so happy to leave, and will never go back, which is a shame as we’ve heard that their sushi offerings are quite good. Just not willing to take the chance. Their loss…More

We went there to have lunch outdoor with our family, a party of 6. The outdoor area was almost empty, except for a couple of tables. They could not accommodate us to seat on the area we wanted to seat. Plenty of empty tables, and...they refused to join two tables to seat us. I asked for the manager and he had the same answer: Restaurant policy. We left to another restaurant right there because the area is full of them. It is a display of the worst costumer service I have seen. I do not recommend recommmend this restaurant. If they treat their clients like that at the beginning, imagine later.More

I asked for the miami spice menu and it wasn't good at all. They didn't even had the desert that was on the menu. The bathroom had no water and the air conditioner wasn't working. I don't recommend it

My friend and I dined on a Sunday evening. Their website said they were open till 11PM. We arrived approximately 9PM. Our waiter took our drink and app orders then between 9:30PM and 10:00PM advised us they were closing. We then put in our dinner...orders. Later the waiter arrived with the check. We asked where our entrees were. The waiter said, and I kid you not, "I thought you were just talking. I did not think you were ordering". No joke. You can look at my other reviews and see I offer fair and balanced views of my experiences.More

What a great restaurant .…we wsat outside……(lots of 🪰 flys)…..they need to invest in some bug zappers…..that’s my only complaint…..The good stuff: Evo was delicious 😋……we started with the crispy Brussels sprouts ($7.99)…. MFantastic!!!….Mediterranean Sampler ($23.99) also super good!!…..we had sushi rolls …..all good and...big….average price of the rolls is $15.00 it well worth it….the miso salmon was cooked to perfection and I highly recommend it ($25.99)….oh, we were a party of 4 adults and 3 children…I managed to steal some French fries 🍟 from the kids and they were really good…..they have a good menu online, I would suggest you check it out before you go…..there’s so many great items that it’s hard to make a decision…..Enjoy 🤩More

Sawa has a huge outdoor dining area and a menu that, while described as Mediterranean has a strong Japanese influence with large sections devoted to sushi, sashimi and a variety of rolls and dumplings. The food is often unadorned and average quality. Dumplings have a...good skin but bland filling, while the rolls struck me as having more ingredients than necessary and are served with a thick sweet sauce. I had to specially request soy sauce from an unfortunately inattentive staff. I also tried the fried calamari that seemed baked or reheated - it had good flavor but was surprisingly dry with some tough dehydrated pepper slices alongside. My biggest gripe at Sawa is the tipping policy - the staff is often absent but when you check finally arrives they with intentionally or cluelessly miscalculate the suggested tip. Claiming a 20% tip on a $67 post-tax total is $16.19 is just false. Do the math - it’s less than $15 even if I calculate it with the tax. That is high even if the service were far betterMore

The 2 waitresses made me wait at the door, other guests looking at me like I was anything except a client. They were greeting a friend of them, hugging and laughing... while I was standing by the door... such irresponsable, direspectful. A waiter came and...did his best. At least great service. The waitress who served the drink was pretty mad and looks upset.More

Restaurant is located in a gorgeous outdoor mall and courtyard surrounded by high end shops and other restaurants. The menu has no identity it’s Japanese, Mediterranean, Peruvian etc. Service was very slow but the servers were very nice. Would not recommend.

We were given a great outdoor table, all seats are definitely 6ft apart. We ordered drinks and a few tapas which were all excellent. However, trying to order a second drink and further food proved very problematic - i ordered a main course which took...a further 40 mins to arrive... this was after finishing out tapas. When it did -the Vegetable Kebab - it was tasteless and very sad. We sent it back as everyone had started to think about leaving anyway! They took the meal off the bill. Overall, I’d probably go back... but order all my tapas at one time, and not bother with an entree. Our server was batch ordering so everything was taking far too long.More

Wow, Sawa, you are amazing!!!! I went for an event and Sawa surprised us with a Japanese and Lebanese Feast. They decided to preview the Miami Spice Menu that day, and it was sensational Basil Hummus: the color was so different, it was green with...a hint of flavored basil. The texture was perfect as well as the taste. Regular Hummus: it was so nicely presented as you can see in my pictures. The texture was perfect as well as the taste, almost as good as mine ;) Beet Hummus: oh wow this was so pretty, that color looked beautiful on the table and the flavor was even better. The texture was perfect and I ate it without the pita bread so I can enjoy that amazing flavor. Sushi: perfect presentation, taste, and quality. Poke Bowl: one of the best I have tried, so fresh, flavorful, and filled with many ingredients. These people didn't spare into the making of this meal. Fatouch Salad: it looked so organically fresh, but I couldn't eat it. My friend said it was delicious. Falafel: great taste and they also made one with quinoa. Kibbe: with meat and the vegetarian one. I loved the veggie kibbe, this was my favorite of the day!! the flavor reminds me of my grandmother, who is from Lebanon. Chicken and Salmon BBQ: I had the salmon one, and it was perfectly seasoned with Arabic spices and made fresh right there for all of us. Chicken/Cheese with angel hair crispy pasta: tender chicken with melted cheese that went great with the crispy pasta. White and Red Sangria: served at the moment by a nice lady and a gentleman at the bar. So many fruits in each glass and so refreshing. Virgin Mojito: for those who don't drink alcohol. Knafe: this dessert was pretty and taste wise was exactly like the one I used to eat when I was young. Service was on point too, everyone helped out with huge and pretty smiles on their faces. I can't wait to go back for more and also enjoy their belly dance show.More
