This is a historic restaurant and Inn, but it is anything but stuffy or high falluting. The food is very American and cooked well. Drinks and dining are reasonable.

A bit apprehensive reading some reviews, we decided to try ourselves. We went here as teenagers back in the fifties and we're pleased to see it was still in operation. From what I remember nothing changed. We had the daily luncheon special which is an excellent deal. Nice waitress who was quite spry for her age! The NE chowder was... More

Although in a recent review, I said the Curtis House was back, I’d have to retract that statement. While it was on holiday the next day-Monday-this shouldn’t have affected the service we received, or better yet, didn’t receive. We brought some family members with us for my birthday, who have never been to the Curtis House. We had a scheduled... More

The Curtis House Inn is the oldest in Connecticut that is still in existence. We have had lunch there twice in the last month and have been very pleased both times. I have had the stuffed sole and the wife had the salmon on our first visit. We were both well pleased with the portions and they were delicious. We... More

We enjoyed our dinner at Curtis House Inn. The menu is mostly old-fashioned comfort foods, meatloaf, pork chops, pot roast, etc. The portions are sizable, a "personal" pizza could easily be split by two, one pork chop is plenty, etc. Our server was rather loud and intrusive, but very friendly. Food came out quickly and hot, although it was served... More

Some service issues but you don't have to fight the crowds. Home style dishes are the best - shepherds pie, pot roast, turkey dinner. Try the lobster bisque. Parfaits are a good end to dinner.

In over 60 years of dining out, the French Onion Soup here was the best ever! My sauteed calves liver & onions was the most tender ever, and tasteful. Lauretta had tenderloin tips, and we shared Sauteed Escargot. All of our food, including the salads, were presented beautifully and had great taste. We completed this great meal with delicious Creme... More

We stayed at the Inn for two days and took all of our meals here as did most of the guests. A Continental breakfast was offered for free.
