Great lunch buffet at a reasonable price for Stamford. It's not an easy place for parking, but bring some quarters and grab a street spot. The atmosphere is a little on the run-down side...very clean, just kind of old looking. But don't let that stop...you. The Tandoori chicken is moist and delicious...salads are outstanding....great rice and veggie dishes also, with a good variety. Service was courteous and attentive too. The lamb had some chewy pieces but most of it was excellent in terms of taste and spiciness. Check it out!!!More
The three of us stopped here for dinner and were not disappointed. Service was more than excellent. Food portion huge and very tasty. sat by the windows so we could people watch in Stamford. Overall, great food, fairly priced and a great place in Stamford...for Indian food.More
All the dishes were good, but particularly nice were the Calamari Coromandel, the Uppu Kari lamb, and the Saag Paneer. The only thing which was not good was a cocktail , the Mango Margerita. The service was excellent: both friendly and efficient. We will be...going back soon.More
I was part of a large group for dinner. The restaurant is not that busy on a Friday night, which should tell you something. The food is reasonably good. Service is a little slow with a few errors. They ran out of beer! Overall a decent...experience at a reasonable cost.More
The wait staff is friendly but the rest of the restaurant doesn't deliver. The Indian food is carelessly made. I had the Saag Ghosht which is cubed lamb with spinach. The spinach was probably frozen. It seemed like it had been reheated. The Tandoori Roti,...traditional Punjabi hard durum wheat made in a tandoor was made with refined flour. Tasted like the Indian version of Wonder Bread. Raita or yogurt with cucumber lacked cucumber. A bold attempt to revive it with toasted cumin seed fails. They can do a lot better. One redeeming quality other than the friendly service was the limited decor. Indian restaurants love gaudy Indian decorations, usually a optical assault. So few to none is better than many.More
Mind you, everything I've heard about the place is that it is inconsistent - which implies that I happened to be there during an up-cycle.
But boy, what an _excellent_ up-cycle!
The "Nellore Chapla Koora" was fiery - Andhra fiery - but without losing any...depth or complexity.
The tandoori chicken was...unctous. That's the only word that applies
The kheema naan had an _excellent_ lamb filling.
And the raita was appropriately cooling ex post facto
Mind you, we _did_ order a bottle of Sula Sauvignon Blanc, which turned out to be the weak link. It may be great when one is in Bangalore, but here, go with something else :-)More
Local teachers ordered lunch from a neighborhood restaurant and were treated in the worst possible way. What a horrible restaurant. I placed an order for 10 people and asked for a delivery time of 11:45. I explained that the teachers only had a 20 minute...lunch time starting at 11:59. The (cold) food arrived more than an hour late and none of the teachers were able to have their lunch. A week before the order I called and asked if a delivery time of 11:45 was possible and was told it was. The night before the delivery I called and placed the order and again explained why the food had to be delivered at 11:45. When the food did not arrive by 11:55 I called the restaurant and was told the delivery man left the restaurant at 11:30. I called again at noon and they hung up on me. My friend called and when they realized it was the school they hung up. When the cold food arrived at the school, more than an hour after our lunch time, none of it was labeled so I called the restaurant to ask what was in each container - they once again hung up on me. Terrible, rude customer service I will never go there myself and advise others to STAY AWAY.More
