(Last visited 12/22/2021.) Want to see a video review instead of reading? Head on over to "The Hungry Road" on YouTube and search for this restaurant! On our way to see House of Gucci at the AMC theaters in Plainville and we stopped off at 50 West nearby to have a bite before seeing the show. A friend of ours in the Wingaddicts Facebook group recommended this place to us because of their braised wings, which I had never had before so here's how things went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place delivers an excellent, chic and rustic vibe, but with an upper-scale tavern-like twist. There's a nice outdoor section for the warmer months and the restaurant has plenty of seating split into several different sections. One of my favorite aspects of this place was the high-top bench booths. You could sit higher up off the ground, but let your feet swing at the same time. It's not often that I run across something like that. It was a Thursday evening and the restaurant was quiet around 5:30pm, but I'm sure business picked up later. Service: Our server was actually the bartender and she was awesome. Because it was so slow she was able to run the bar and take care of us. She was sweet, asked us a lot of questions and made it seem like she really wanted to get to know us. We appreciated that. The owner even came out to talk to us when he discovered when I was filming. Regardless, we appreciated the hospitality. Food: We were here during happy hour so we took advantage of it! We started off with their Goat Cheese Balls. They're lightly breaded panko balls served with an orange jalapeno marmalade. They were soft and CRAZILY tender. Like, you didn't even need to chew. They just melted away right in your mouth leaving behind plenty of flavor and some good spice. So the first flavor of wings we had were the Garlic Parmesan. They're a wet sauce and described as "slow-braised". This creates a fall-off-the-bone sensation and it works so well. They were a little on the smaller side and the flavor was light, but they were very good. Next up was Buffalo and they're cooked in the same "slow-braised" manner, all the wings here are cooked like that. The Buffalo was creamy, medium and pretty straightforward. Spicy Thai Jerk was next and it was very intriguing. It tasted exactly how the name describes. It was a great balance of Thai flavors and jerk flavors. Last, but not least was "Spicy House Sauce". There wasn't even a description for this you just have to be adventurous. Lol. There was a bit of spicy Sriracha, red peppers, some sweetness, garlic and black pepper. Very good flavors, likely my favorite of the night. After that we went for the cheese quesadilla with short-rib. Let me tell you somethin'. It was SUPER cheesy, succulent, savory and DELICIOUS. To wash it all down, the owner gifted me a White Chocolate Peppermint Martini. It tasted exactly like a candy cane, but if a brown stripe were added. It was sweet and has that distinct "twang" of peppermint. Delicious. Value: The wings were about $11.00 per order and each came with 7 wings. Like I mentioned, the wings were small, but the quality was there. The goat cheese balls were $5.00 and they came in an order of 3. I could've ordered 26 of these and been in absolute Heaven. They were that good. The short-rib quesadilla was $8.00 and absolutely worth it. Granted, this is my perspective of happy hour so I recommend coming at that time, because you know the real menu prices will naturally be more expensive. In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here. I'd certainly come back to try out out some real entrees or just hit happy hour hard before going to the movies again! If you made it this far in the review, I appreciate you reading. Please do me a favor and head on over to "The Hungry Road" on YouTube and subscribe! My channel features a lot of food, car and exclusive shoe related content! Thank you so much!

My husband and I came here for a meal before going to the movies, after finding positive reviews of this place on Yelp, and we were not disappointed at all. My husband had a chicken Caesar salad, and while he's picky about that salad, he was very happy with how it was made here (the right combination of crispy chicken, good sauce without too much). My Green Wrap sandwich was really good: the vegetables were well-cooked without being limp and the bread wasn't too soggy. We shared the fried ravioli, which was also delicious. The restaurant had a relaxed vibe, while still maintaining a classier environment.

Just had our second visit. Food was great, burgers apps, salads. First time took advantage of happy hour. Looking forward to trying their Sunday brunch. Great patio and can't wait to go enjoy the good food outside when the weather is warmer. Great service. A hidden gem in Plainville!

So far everything we have had here has pleased. Burgers are good and cooked right, Fish and chips are good, Cajun shrimp is great, street corn is the best but it is seasonal. Workers are always pleasant too. All around this place is good.

My husband and I have been coming to this establishment for the last 6 months and couldn’t be more pleased. Each and every time we come here, we are greeted promptly and seated immediately. Drinks come out fast and are always top notch. All of the staff is amazing and we have had great experiences with everyone. By now, we’ve sampled the entire menu and everything has been spectacular. My particular favorite currently is the lobster grilled cheese. Unlike the last reviewer who had the audacity to say it was fake lobster ( you are out of your mind or on drugs ), the lobster grilled cheese sandwich is AMAZING!!! When I tell you that this sandwich is stuffed with lobster, I’m not lying. I literally could only eat half of my sandwich and saved the rest for later. Lobster was poached perfectly in butter and layered with cheese and thick toast. There’s honesty nothing better to have in the middle of summer!!!! If you’re looking for a new place to check out, definitely make the time to come here! All of the food has been amazing and we’ve yet to have a mediocre meal. Thank you guys for offering quality food and amazing service each and every time!

I paid $18 for a lobster grilled cheese. At that price point you would expect the lobster to be REAL, am I right? Well, it wasn't. It was promptly taken off the bill, hence the 2 stars, however, I held a piece of it up to the manager and he continued to insist that it was "real, butter-poached lobster." An admission that a mistake was made and that it wouldn't happen again was what it would've taken to undo the damage, but that didn't happen. This is supposed to be a high-end restaurant. I don't get it. I suppose management will probably respond to this review saying I don't know what real lobster is. Look at the photos. You be the judge.

My wife and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks off the menu. I got the Russian Maid after describing to the bartender, Steve was his name, what I was looking for and his recommendation was spot on. My wife ordered the watermelon salad and I decided on 50west burger and the food was excellent. The speed was faster than I expected for the quality of food. The staff was amazing and ensured our experience was enjoyable. We got the chocolate mouse for desert which was smooth and not too rich. Rest assure we will be back

Pat Miceli's 50 WEST has re-opened after transition from 50 WEST to a short-lived experiment as BOB RAMEN and now back to 50 WEST. We attended the grand re-opening. Familiar decor with friendly staff. There is outside patio dining which is excellent! (Few outside seats at D'Amico's/JV Taproom but I do not recall others in Plainville.) Happy hour drinks and apps inexpensive and tasty ($3-9). Fried ravioli was nice with dipping sauce. Fried goat cheese balls also with a honey type sauce-delicious. Brussels sprouts with Sriacha and a honey dip, very nice. Ribs and cheese sandwich on thick toast delicious and very filling. Wings well-done and tasty. St. Gems in cocktail was light and done well. Salad with watermelon and mint was a good portion, light and tasty. Will need to re-visit to try remainder of menu. So far it is a good re-start.

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but our last two visits were awful. I hope management pays attention when they reopen under new name "Bob Ramen." During last visit, we went with 3 friends. 4 of us order the special. The waitress comes back and says there are only two specials left. Two of us agree to order something different. How you run out of the special at 6:45 pm when you open at 5:00 is beyond me. We have our appetizers. 25 minutes after telling us there were only two specials, the manager tells us there is actually only 1 special left, almost joking about it. Meals come. My dinner came topped with frizzled onions. Inside the onions were several French fries. My wife and I were embarrassed as we were the ones to recommend this place. The waitress and manager were new and poorly trained. The visit prior was not as bad but still well below expectations and our previous experience. We went with two friends. One of our friends meals, pork tenderloin, was grossly overlooked and dry. They sliced the tenderloin prior to serving so they should have been able to see it. Serving a meal that you know is improperly cooked is totally unacceptable. It seems like ownership treated this restaurant like new toy. They were 100% in at the beginning but quickly lost interest. Now they will have two restaurants, this one and the other in Hartford, to split their efforts.

When I spend hard earned money for a meal, I expect great service & a great meal. I received neither at 50 West. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant for lunch. We were greeted with a smile, then seated. So far so good. Then the waitress appeared. Looked like she rolled our of bed and came to work. I asked how the Rose was (I prefer dry, not sweet) she brought me a taste. The taste was so small, I just about tasted it. Then when we decided on our order, the short ribs I ordered they were out of. She couldn't have told us one of the 3 other times she came to the table? So I ordered a cheeseburger. First of all NO CHEESE, second is was overlooked & third it crumbles into tiny pieces I couldn't eat it on the bun. I used a fork. When she came to collect the plates I mentioned the crumbs (let the other 2 slide) and her answer was (We grind the meat fresh and put no gluing agents in it like egg or breadcrumbs) . WHAT?? Is that he best you can do? I make burgers at home with no egg or breadcrumbs and its just fine. (spices would have been nice too. Or are the opposed to salt). After paying our check and leaving a 20% tip, as we were leaving the friendly greeter who seated us never looked up from her pile of menus at the hostess stand, never said goodbye, thank you ......nothing. I work in the service industry, I would be out of a job if I treated people like this. Terrible service, worse food. I was mildly impressed on my first visit , this was my 2nd and last visit to this establishment. Now I know why it's never busy. Very overpriced too!

My friends and I just visited this restaurant for lunch and left sadly disappointed. Two of us ordered coke which arrived at the table flat....the order for the burger we order came with out cheese although we ordered cheddar, but the worst was the meat for the burger. The burger fell apart before you could eat it. When this was brought to the waitresses attention her response was..."Well this meat is ground fresh everyday and no breadcrumbs or eggs are used nor is there any gluing agents so that it remains gluten free. HMMM well I don't know about you but MY Mamma never made hamburgers with eggs and breadcrumbs....those are definitely ingredients used in a meatball recipe! After this complaint about the quality of the beef used and its ability to stay in burger form was mentioned the waitress went out on the patio and discussed this with the hostess. The patio was directly in front of our table and the hostess looked through the window directly at us through the window. We paid the bill with a 20% tip ...left the table ...passed the hostess area as the hostess sat in front arranging menus...she neither looked up nor addressed any of us as we left the restaurant...My advice save your money $13 for a burger that doesn't stay together is way too much.....spend you money in a restaurant that has better quality and better customer interaction.
