Friendly staff and tasty food. This restaurant is located at the corner of Chapel Street. We liked the welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast egg sandwich with avocado and tomatoes was juicy and tasty. Next time will try their Arabic delights.

We had just arrived in New Haven for an afternoon visiting the Yale campus and were looking for lunch near our hotel Graduate New Haven and the nearby parking garage. This place looked clean and had a nice outdoor patio, although we chose the cooler, less crowded indoor seating. We split a Caesar salad. He had a Chicken gyro, which I had the traditional Lamb gyro. Absolutely yummy! And generous portions. Friendly welcoming staff!!

I arrived after 11 pm to the Graduate in New Haven. I had not had dinner yet and asked if there was anything open nearby. I was referred to the pizza place down the street. I really did not want pizza that late at night, so I was happy to find Chap’s Grill next door. The owner was happy to accommodate my late-night dining venture. I chose a dish that started with a K, not sure of the name. It was a wise choice, very tasty and very healthy. Including, pasta, chickpeas, tomatoes, and much more. It was a late-night treat!

Very nice little restaurant where we hade breakfast several times during our stay in New Haven. The food is great and the staff is very nice and friendly. Also, there is no loud music or TV which was very nice. Highly recommend!

Great breakfast- salmons, poached eggs, pancakes, etc. generous portions! Buyer beware… cup of coffee is 3$ and bottles lemonade is $4/bottle. There is no fountain soda only bottles which is a little extreme for kids drinks. Server and Chef were great- I would go back.

We were staying at a hotel across the street and wanted a quick breakfast. The menu at Chaps has an all day breakfast, plus great choices for lunch. My husband had the Bagel with everything and it was great, with a healthy portion of lox and cream cheese. We went the next day for lunch and ordered a panini and a wrap. Both were served warm and were very fresh tasting. The owner was very friendly and the staff provided good service. I wish we had time to sample the Mediterranean food.

I have only dropped by here to pick up breakfast sandwiches, so I can't speak on anything else. What I can say is that they have delicious breakfast sandwiches - nothing fancy, but the basics are done right. The bread is soft, the eggs are done and seasoned well... I have never actually eaten in the restaurant itself, but the few times I have come by to pick up that delicious breakfast sandwich, I admit that I'm not sure I'd want to sit inside. There is a scent of grease in the air, and I feel like if I stay longer for a meal, the smell will cling to my clothes. Not a fan of that hint-of-grease-scent, but still love their sandwiches.

This is the classic hole in the wall. The last renovation maybe 1972. However, if you are looking for a delicious falafel platter you cannot beat the one served here. The rice pudding was fine as well. I will definitely go back.

We had hummus appetizer, eggplant panini, and lamb gyro. Excellent. The hummus was fantastic. Loved it. Family run. Nice place. They also have American menu.

Was looking for a place that had coffee and lox and bagel. I was reading the menu outside and sure enough this place had it. The bagel was fresh with fresh lox, red onion, cream cheese and slice of tomato. I asked if they had capers and if so to please put them on my sandwich, they did. Capers really do make this sandwich. I also ordered some home fries which were plenty for a single person. It was great to see they add fruit to the side of my meal. The coffee was hot and rich. The place was quiet which was fine by me. The food came out fast and the service was great. Looking for Lox & Bagel then this is your place..

Chaps is one of the best value dining experiences in New Haven. They have a fairly typical diner menu and this is all good but the gem is the middle eastern menu - go there, choose the falafel pita for $4 and ask yourself why you didn't do this sooner.

I ordered a steak and cheese grinder with fries online and picked it up in about 20 minutes. The order was ready and waiting for me. Quick in and out. The service was excellent and the place looked very nice.

A good mix of options at affordable pricing. The meal I had was filling and delicious. On a budget, this was a good choice.

Had breakfast here, we were the only four people in the restaurant and couldn't get anybody to refill our coffee. Menu looked great; we all got omelettes which were not particularly hot when served: odd given that there was literally no one else in the restaurant. Coffee was industrial Mr. Coffee kind of thing, much better coffee available all over town. So - not bad, not great.

Located one block from Yale University, this restaurant delivered a lunch packed full of wonderful flavor, without breaking your wallet. The waiter was charming and we were able to eat outside. Yale University did not have Chaps on the recommend area restaurants list that they handed out at the recent symposium I attend there and they should! Maybe, because the menu is reasonably priced? Highly recommend for flavor and service!
