We were walking around the shops & decided to give this place a try for lunch. It was pretty quiet inside but lots of folks outside. They were following all covid procedures. We had the wings as appetizer & they were very good....I even asked for some of the sauce to put on my sandwich. The boys both had burgers which they said were really good. The only problem was my sandwich which was a cuban. The main complaint was that I requested they not put the mustard relish on it & it came loaded with it. I ended up first trying to scrap it off but ended up taking the meat out to eat alone (could have had a bit more meat for a $14 sandwich). They offered to get another one but I declined as the boys were almost done. They did eventually take the cost off our bill which is more than expected. We would go back to give it another try. Cost was a bit high ($13 for 7 wings & $14 for most sandwiches.)

Four of us stopped in for dinner at the Jealous Monk while visiting the area. The food was good, but the service was slow. Also, my wife asked for onions to be added to her salad - they put a very small amount of chopped onions on her salad and charged us an extra $4.00 which seems extreme. She has normally asked for this in restaurants all over the country and is rarely even charged anything for this request. For what would be a very small cost to the restaurant, it left a bad impression for us. We will not be back.

The servers absolutely stole the show as attentive, caring folks who respected customers enough to stay away just the right length of time. Ordered the pretzel charcuterie board - not all it was hyped to be (a bread pretzel and a few slices of dried meat and small chunks of cheese) for the cost it wasn't really worth it. The aesthetics of the places begged for music better than the 80s nonsense they had on - their only bad mark on this review :D

We had an excellent lunch at the Jealous Monk the other day while shopping at Old Mistick Village in Connecticut.
We ate indoors; the tables were spaced, so we felt comfortable taking off our masks.
I ordered the Cubana sandwich with a Caesar salad instead of fries, and my husband had the Bratwurst sandwich that came with homemade sauerkraut. They were both delicious.
I highly recommend stopping at this eatery. They had lots of outdoor seating.
The wait staff was extremely nice, offering suggestions on what to drink. Their rum punch was excellent!

We had a couple of friends visiting from out of town and decided to take them here for dinner, and everyone had a fantastic time. This restaurant is well-situated at the outskirts of Olde Mistick Village, so you can do your shopping, drop off everything in your car, and then enjoy a leisurely meal here. The menu is primarily sandwiches/burgers and salads, but the food is quite good - the monk goulash and fried fish sandwich that my husband and I shared were delicious! Everything here is physically distanced, and there's plenty of outdoor seating. Our waitress told us that in the winter, they have heated tents and fire-pits to keep people warm.

I hit this restaurant for lunch and was sadly left to outside eating in 90+ degree weather which wasn't ideal but it really was that crowded. But that meant I didn't see the full beer menu (which is a tad pricier than I'm used to) so I didn't pick from the IPAs on offer on the outdoor menu I was given. I went with an appetizer since at nearly the price of a meal I assumed they'd be hearty and more than enough for lunch. I was right. I had the griddled honey-drizzled cornbread and it was very good and the service was good as well.

If you have any Covid concerns, I don’t recommend it. We sat at a long table literally with another family and when I asked the host to move he said no, he couldn’t push 2 of the empty tables together. They were out of pretzels and tenders by 4:00 on a Sunday… the potatoes in the chowder were hard and undercooked, but my chicken sandwich was tasty. From all the great reviews, I would have expected better…

Come mostly for the great beer selection but feel like prices have gone up quite a bit — paid $10 for a pint of a pretty basic Lager. The boneless wings with chipotle BBQ sauce were fantastic as always and the pulled pork sandwich was tasty — but could have used a bit more meat. Fries were delicious. I’ll certainly come back again but if I’m just looking to grab a few beers may opt for a less expensive location — plenty of locations close by where same beer would have been 6 or 7 dollars tops

We went to the Mystic Museum and then looked for lunch. We went to the Village and found the Jealous Monk. We checked the website, liked the menu and went in. Jen our server was great. The menu has some interesting items. Nice to see some German fare once in a while as well as other items that had an edge. I had my heart set on a hot dog and they had one. I added beer cheese and sauerkraut and truffled fries, I was very happy.

We were last in Mystic five years ago and has stopped at the Jealous Monk for a pint. We wanted to grab dinner on the return trip to Mystic and we were very happy with our experience. Our server was accommodating, food was very tasty and came out quickly. Most tables are high tops and they have high chairs to accommodate.

The beers are little pricey, but the food is so good. The pretzel appetizer was huge and so tasty. I had the cobb salad and it was fresh and yummy. My husband loved the Bavarian mac and cheese which is made with a beer cheese sauce and bratwurst. The tuna melt was super good as well. They had trivia the night we were there, which was fun to play while eating. Friendly service and good food, will return when in the area.

Poor COVID practices. Dirty beverage glasses stacked, stored and finger bussed right next to beverages being served to guests. Servers taking down masks while making beverages for guests. Bartender finger busses glasses (fingers inside rims where previous guests drank). Did not wash hands and proceeded to make additional drinks with out washing hands. I wish we had not eaten there. Will be hesitant to try indoor dining again soon.

Stopped in when driving bye. I have referred a lot of people to this site. Good Beer menu with lots of challenging options. Food was not too great. We ordered a Rueben and a burger. The corned beef was thick and tough - not what I expected. When you bite into a sandwich and the entire piece of meat exits the sandwich, it is not so good. Not a fan of a fork and knife to eat a sandwich. The burger was small. Stop for a beer but pass on lunch/dinner.

Situated in close proximity to my accommodation, it presented itself as the most suitable option for a quick meal prior to heading to the cinema. The personnel exhibited a high degree of assistance. My selection was the Cowboy burger.
TThe dimensions of this burger are substantial, with a multitude of components. I am unable to recall encountering a burger of such magnitude that necessitated the use of utensils for consumption. In order to conquer this Cowboy burger, I resorted to employing a fork and knife. The barbecue meat exhibited a pleasing tenderness, and I was taken by surprise upon discovering the presence of coleslaw as I bit into the cabbage. Should I opt to partake in this dish once more, I would likely request for the exclusion of the slaw.
The only downside was that my salad was brought out after the burger.

I have eaten here in the past and always enjoyed the beer and food. The past couple of visits have been disappointing. Previously there were always at least a couple of real german beers on tap, not anymore. The food quality has definitively gotten worse. While never an extensive menu, there were always at least a couple of real meals on offer with some hint of german influence that actually tasted quite decent. Now the menu is basically what you can get at just about any bar and tastes very average at best. I do have to say the staff was rather good.
