The hotel has a nice ambience, although there is weird vinyl fake wood flooring in the bar. Sheltered sunny outdoor terrace for lunch, and airy dining area. Service was very good but the BLT was slapped together without much care and was very ordinary.

I stayed here on a business trip and found the bedroom quite spacious and well laid out. The beer garden at the back of the hotel is quite nice but I did find the breakfast in the morning not the best. The food was overcooked...More

Met a friend for a quick lunch, asked to sit outside on the rear terrace which is a nice sun trap. Ordered "fresh" sandwiches, one a gravelax, the other pulled pork. Both are served with salad and stringy fries. The bread on both sandwiches was...More

I bought a Travelzoo voucher for the Talbot, and called a month before to reserve a table and tell them we had the voucher etc. So we turn up at 7.30pm, and they had no reservation noted for us!? Very strange, oh well can we...More

Spacious traditional style restaurant, combined with a large and airy garden room extension overlooking the large rear garden. A welcoming place to eat or chill in that garden when the sun's out. The menu is varied and reasonably priced, the staff are welcoming, service is...More

The Restaurant at the Talbot Inn provided me and my 2 guests with a perfect lunch today. Our menu choices: 1) mushroom, cheese and onion risotto, garnished with fresh pea shoots ; 2) fish cake with poached egg on a bed of spinach accompanied by...More

Dined in the Garden room, a beautiful glass-walled extension to the historic old building. It's always comforting when you look at a menu and could happily choose several of the dishes with equal enthusiasm. Food when it came (fish cake starter, calves liver mains) was...More

Dinner for four, food perfectly acceptable, good range of dishes all of which tasted fine. Starters were all good, mains .. Lamb cuts were not great which was a shame as just a little better cut would take the dish to the next level. Food...More

We did arrive clutching a TravelZoo voucher, so the value for money really isn't up for question. Service was superb, and I loved the decor and ambiance of this restaurant/hotel. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and accommodating. The volume of food wasn't a...More

Description
A famed coaching inn with a restaurant in the leafy village of Ripley, just a short drive from nearby Woking, The Talbot is said to have been the place at which love blossomed between Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. It's not just this tale that gives The Talbot such a sense of romance, from the traditional old beamed pub area to the glamorous glass backed restaurant, The Talbot is an obviously special place. Spacious and modern, the restaurant is light and airy during the day, a cosier feel falling over the room after dark, while outside, a beautiful garden and champagne terrace are the ideal al fresco spots. With an AA Rosette to its name, The Talbot offers food of a very high standard, garnering a mention in the Michelin guide. Chef Gavin Chilcott creates not only pub style classics, a must in the 15th century bar, but stylish modern British dishes with a strong focus on locality and seasonality.
