Can not fault this place. Great food with a variety of choices and the restaurant itself is very warm and inviting. The staff were friendly and attentive which made for a great night

My wife and I chose the Griswold Inn to celebrate our 49th Anniversary. We went for lunch rather than dinner to enjoy the immediate surroundings of Essex, a quintessential New England town. The inn, itself, is fascinating; oldest continuously operating inn in the United States,...More
I first visited the Inn this summer and had a lovely dinner in one of their historic rooms. I was eager to bring my family back for Christmas Eve brunch to enjoy a meal in one of the cozy rooms filled with nautical antiques and...More
By tradition the male family members get together near Christmas in various locations in Southern New England with the Griswold Inn being this year's location. Restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holiday with a plus being a quartet of carolers. After drinks being served, we...More

We’ve loved going to the Gris over the years. It’s always an experience to stop in for a drink and listen to the music. But the food seems to be slipping in quality. While some entrees are still good and the seasonal menus are nice,...More
I had a lovely dinner in a very comfortable setting. The music from the bar added to the enjoyment. After dinner we went into the bar. The whole building is filled with interesting memorabilia. Great service and pampering by the staff.
