This is our "go to" place when we want to eat locally. The food is consistantly good and the wait staff are pleasant.

Food was good and so was the service. Went there by chance after riding the North Pole Express/Essex Steam train. Cute little area, wish it was earlier so we could have walked around. Restaurant had a cozy feel, felt like an old whaling bar. Would definitely go again, must be especially nice in the summer.

Fresh seafood (as expected) and locally produced beers. Cozy place, full of locals, which is always a good sign.

Have lived in Essex for a long time and been going to the Seal for over 15 years. Used to be a fun place with live music, tons of people, good food at good prices. Over the years it seems to have gone steadily downhill with no music, tired menu, uneven service, and general run down feel. It is so... More
