We had a very enjoyable evening at this lovely pub and had a warm welcome from Donna who looked after us wonderfully. The food was excellent - delicious fish soup - and, on a cold Spring night, the fires and fairy lights were lovely. Thoroughly recommended. Our dog was spoiled with treats from Donna and we'll be back soon.

Found this place by accident, but would certainly go back, very friendly, open fire, which makes the atmosphere warm and cosy, we ordered the Sunday roast, which was lovely. Would definitely recommend this place!!

My wife & I have visited the pub on 3 occasions in the last 6 months when we have stayed in the area in our motorhome. Before our 1st visit, last Oct, we browsed the CAMRA website for dog friendly pubs & found this one as well as the Barley Mow in nearby Witnesham. The first thing to impress me... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It makes all the difference & we do try really hard to please everyone. We've just had our safer food audit & we got 5, which is the highest score The Environmental Officer says the same thing every time we have a review " You don't allow dogs in the Restaurant"? It... Husband and I went to the Moon and Mushroom yesterday evening and had a very nice meal . It was quieter than I would have expected for a Friday night and I can't understand why. We travelled about 30 mins to get there but I would say that was worthwhile. Quite an extensive menu and said all was homecooked. Nice... More

We are regular visitors to this delightful village pub and again this evening, had a lovely meal. Both the minted lamb suet pudding and chicken/leek pie were delicious, with fresh veg and roast potatoes. We couldn't resist the puddings - the creme brulee and date/walnut pudding were lovely.

From the moment we walked through the front door for the first time we received a warm welcome from front of house Donna . The drinks that followed and a friendly explanation of the menu and specials lead to very enjoyable and relaxing evening with friends. Met Nikki the owner and outstanding chef for a foodie chat...great cooking too. Fantastic... More

Decided to go for a meal with the family here, and what a truly wonderful time we all had. This lovely little village pub was warm and welcoming with a real fire. The staff were nice and friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent and very tasty. The presentation of the food was wondering we will be going back.... More

Description
The Moon and Mushroom is a quaint 16th century Inn. It is believed it was used as a staging post for prisoners being deported to the Colonies from the Ipswich Assizes. This beautiful old Pub was featured by Sky News all day during the Jubilee weekend and we were chosen from all of East Anglia to light the Rural Beacon which was televised nationally and internationallyThe Moon and Mushroom has won The Best Country Village Pub for Food and Drink on 2 separate occasions.Real Ale from small East Anglia Micro Breweries is served straight from the Tap Room and our varied menu is all locally sourced and cooked here on the premises. This is a fabulous old pub with no juke box, one armed bandit or television
