I love Taj (yup, were on a first name basis)...Barring any complications like distance, money, hours of operation, my family's food preferences...etc. I could eat this stuff three meals a day. Cons: The parking situation isn't ideal, but it gets pretty bad on Friday and...More

Reliably good lunch buffet. Pleasant service, good food. Fairly good selection. I would prefer that they spice up their food more, but it's apparent that most folks in Colorado do not like their indian food hot, so you need to find some of their spices...More

Located just a few steps off the main drag in Ft Collins, this locally owned restaurant is nice. Ambiance is good...NOT a 'hole-in-the-wall' but rather nice, with table cloths and clean setting. Selection of foods - GREAT! And you can order as spicy as you...More

I love Indian food and should have ordered something lighter, as I had to take home left overs. I had the Vegetarian platter, which was enough for two. The lentils were very tasty as were kamur (spinach dish). Curried cauliflower was awesome too. I enjoyed...More

We chose this place for its proximity to a concert venue and because our son-in-law had never tried Indian food. I am unhappy that this was his first experience. Upon entering I was overwhelmed by a musty odor. It had to be the carpet and...More

I have to say that of all the groups of cultural cuisine out there Indian food is probably the one I have the least exposure to. Even so, I feel that this restaurant isn't the best you can do in the area in this category....More

Story behind taj mahal: in 1986, balwinder singh left his native india to start a new life in united states. Settling in colorado, he took up residence in boulder and began working at the royal peacock indian restaurant. He has been a fixture at several boulder and denver indian restaurants since then and in may 1996 decided to try his hand at restaurant ownership. So began taj mahal at 148 w. Oak st. In downtown fort collins. Fort collins was chosen over colorado springs and denver because balwinder felt that fort collins, with its diversified-based population and fairly quiet restaurant scene, would be best market for his culinary offerings.
