The food was very good, but a little fancy for my teenage boys. They had a hard time finding anything they wanted to eat on the menu. The location and ambiance were great as well as the food. But it is a fine restaurant so expect to pay more than normal.

One of the Durango’s top 5 fine-dining restaurants, Sow’s Ear delivers gourmet fare with views of the Twilight Peaks, just south of Purgatory Ski Resort. Located on the second floor of the Silver Pick Lodge, expansive glass brings the spectacular scenery into the bar and multi-level dining room. Our party of 4 started with endive salads and ordered entrees of... More

We have been going to the Sows Ear for over 8 years. The staff are always very pleasant, the food terrific and the views are incredible. It is a small jewel of excellent dining and the best restaurant near the ski resort. My family always looks forward to dining at the Sows Ear and we all look forward to their... More

Nice quiet place to have dinner but higher end. My son had Elk for the first time. limited menu. I wouldn't take a young family here at all.

We made a reservation and were seated 20 minutes later - be patient. The waitstaff was helpful and provided options for the younger members of our party who would not have appreciated the chef's sauces . There is a bar menu- if you want a burger ask for it! Our steaks were well prepared and did not disappoint! Salads were... More

Best restaurant on the mountain. Limited menu (steaks, elk, duck, salmon, one veggie option) and nightly specials. Food always well prepared. Great atmosphere. Always busy, so wise to make a dinner reservation.

We really want to like this restaurant, beautiful views and location is the best but inconsistency plagues it. When having reservations and being seated, takes a back burner to the locals, no bueno! Having reservations and showing up on time to be told we don't have a table ready, no problem. But, when waiting for our table in front of... More

This place could be good but the combination of bad service and kitchen stuff is just too much. First, no bread brought to our table. Then our food is brought out. My steak is medium rare to rare but I asked for medium. I send it back and it comes back well done. How hard is to understand that medium... More

Living a short distance away, my wife and I eat here from time to time as a treat. It is what I would characterize as finer dining as most menu items are rather expensive but the meals are always excellently prepared, the portions satisfying and the service is what one would expect. I usually have one of their beef offerings... More

Looking for excellent food in a quiet "a little off the beaten path" restaurant for dinner. We found it in Sow's Ear. They seated up by a window that overlook the river and the beautiful fall colors. My husband ordered a beer, which took a little long to get to the table. The wait staff was very slow getting to... More
