About
What are your first three food and drink related visits when you head to your hometown? What do you order? Fried Clams from Kelly's? Supreme Sauce from Raynor's? A slice from Joe's? A take out order of a green-chili cheeseburger from The Owl Cafe? Maybe it's that hot dog from Pink's or those sticky ribs from Thelma's. Or do you head home for a bowl of Mom's chicken soup and brisket? We return to these classic spots for the comfort, the subtly unique flavor, the consistency, the familiarity, and the memories of both the food and the experience. Only one place can set the standard for certain foods. Lovers of food have their own "greatest hits collection." We yearn for that blissful moment that uses the powers of food, smell, sight, taste, and memory to take us to a happy place; that after school hangout, the corner deli, the pizza place and sometimes even Mom's kitchen. Steuben's is named after a restaurant in Boston that my Great Uncles, Max and Joe, opened in 1945. Steuben's became a famous Boston restaurant, nightclub, and hotspot from the 1940's to the 1960's on Boylston Street. The Vienna Room, The Cave, and The Blue Room were all part of the Steuben's space and hosted Big Band, Jazz, and Swing groups with The Rat Pack, Proms and Sweet Sixteens and more. In its prime, Steuben's was the center of the Boston dining and nightlife scene. Steuben's, Denver, is a restaurant that respects the history of its name and the core ingredients of the American Regional classics we have attempted to recreate. These dishes are America's cuisine and American's interpretations of the dishes of our diverse cultural heritage. We have enjoyed the endless debates, opinions, stories, research, consultations and food memories that have led us to the opening version of the Steuben's menu. Eat at Steuben's. Take-Out from Steuben's. Drink at Steuben's. Feel at home, in Denver, at Steuben's.

Cool retro vibe with good eats. Was really impressed with the kids meals as they got a well rounded meal with berries, milk, edamame and entree. My wife and I both enjoyed the Monte Cristo and Cheesesteak.

Close to the museum of nature and science. Husband liked the fried chicken and biscuit. My meatloaf was tasty, as were the mashed potatoes. I substituted carrots for broccoli but didn't like them. In a diner, I was expecting well cooked vegetables and these were just barely cooked and had the tops on them. Too artsy for diner food, in this southern girl's opinion.

After 6 years of living in Denver we decided to check it out. It is what the reviews says. Good portions great flavor great food. The breakfast burrito was enough for two people, I ended up 1/3 home with me. The green chili with pork over the top was mild with large chunks of pork. The inside of the burrito doesn't have meat in it for the price. $3 add on if you want meat, but you really don't need the meat. Smash potatoes are very good. The wife got the cubano and it was very good.

We were eating a late dinner. Staff very friendly especially our waiter. He answer any question we had or found out if he didnt know. My husband and sons food was fine but my daughters hamburger was pretty burned and I was dumb founded when I got the bill and my lobster roll was $32 !!!!! Not worth it at all !!! I had no idea that the menu said no for market price . I had had other lobster rolls recently from other locations on our cross country road trip. I didn't even look at price because bank home there isnt really anywhere that serves this. It was soooo small warm with butter maybe garlic on a folded piece of white bread !!! Thabk god I got a salad too. Prices overall seemed a bit high, but it felt more upscale of a restaurant than we are used to.

This restaurant is a diner. It's not that welcoming inside. Our server was wonderful and she kept checking on us throughout our meal. My husband liked his egg burrito. I ordered a hot tea but they were out of the tea bag that I requested. My cobb salad was relatively small and there was nothing special about it. The crunchy brussel sprouts were burned but the sauce they came with was very tasty. The place was noisy. Prices would have been okay had the food been better. We won't be going back.

Food is fine though you get way too much (and yes, some people care about that). My biggest issue? Surprise 4% charge on my bill at the end. Supposedly for the employees. Pay your employees more (or smaller plates) and up the prices if you have to so that diners know what the cost is beforehand. Doing it this sleazy way creates a lower tip for your server and angers your customers. Won't be back.

The restaurant is a cross between a bar and a diner. The service was very good. We ordered one of their signature dishes, the crispy fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was good but not great (the mashed potatoes were great) We also ordered the Brussel sprouts which were delicious. Overall the food was good, making this a place I would recommend.

First time but it won't be our last! There was a bit of a wait but it was SO worth it. Everyone working there - from the hosts to the wait staff to the bussers were efficient and working their butts off with smiles on their faces. We ordered the Monte Cristo (heavenly), the ceasar salad with the Nashville chicken ( a lot of chicken with a great kick), and the chicken biscuit (looked as good as it tasted)! Great portions and wonderful food. Fun atmosphere and ample seating space. We were never without water or staff checking in. Highly recommend!

Once we arrived in Denver, our fist stop was for lunch at Steuben’s Uptown. It was a late lunch so we were able to find a spot to park in the lot, however there is street parking as well. Having found that this restaurant was on Diners, Drive-In’s, and Dives we were excited to try it. We ordered the lobster roll with cheesy gravy fries and also the Mexican Street Corn dip. Both were wonderful! For drinks we tried their Zombie and once you’re it you’ll see why they limit you to two, very good choice! Definitely recommend this place!

We ordered special food like hamburgers with a fried egg on top and avocado spread, carrots and cauliflower veggies and a grilled chicken breast done just right. Service is good but the atmosphere is slightly not right. Didn't make any difference on the food!

Definitely a bit pricey and hipster like but have never had a bad meal here so its worth it! The bodega breakfast sandwich is to die for with the hand dipped brioche bun in everything seasoning. Fried chicken is decadent. Sweets are also amazing whether that is the milkshakes or their insane cookie dough donut holes.

Hi Kevin, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. Our prices may seem higher than expected as we are a scratch kitchen and choose to source and serve the highest quality product. Here for Mothers Day 2023. Party of 6. Made reservations in advance. Arrived early. They put us in a corner booth table for 5. I informed your “manager” that I had an adult group with larger people and needed a table for “6”. She would not assist us. So we shoved ourselves into the table. I went to the rest-room and empty tables of 6 were set up in the back. She just totally did not care and was prejudice against larger people. We will never be back. Oh, and I had floaters in my hot tea. The meal was mediocre at best and my plate kept falling off my little corner position on the table.

We had the shrimp po boy (a special), the breakfast burrito, and a BLT. The po boy was okay-the shrimp was a little overcooked. The breakfast burrito was way more food than my son could eat and it was interesting. The BLT was fine. Overall, we would go back (if we didn’t live 2,000 miles away!), but would order different items.

I visited Steuben's to pick up an online order. While I waited, I looked at the beverage menu and saw that they served an Egg Nog Cocktail. In a holiday mood, I ordered two. I was shocked to see that their $12 Egg Nog was a 4-ounce drink, flavorless, no resemblance to traditional egg nog flavor: the bourbon was decent, the Egg Nog mix/flavor was unrecognizable, and the tiny portion size was a joke. I have never felt so ripped-off. What happened to the Steuben's bar? For years, they were known for the great bar menu and quality cocktails.

Steuben's Uptown is four blocks in distance from Denver's chic LoDo district and a world away in menu, ambience, and (thankfully!) prices. I'll start with prices: my wife had fried chicken and waffle, I had mac & cheese with chicken breast and bacon, she had wine and I had a cocktail--total tab with big tip: $89. Two people without alcohol could easily feel satisfied for under $50. As you may infer from our meals, this is classic comfort food for the most part. The only menu item I saw that would be seen in LoDo is trout almandine, which I was tempted to get for comparison purposes, but I really wanted a dish more at home in a diner such as this. One happy (for me) departure from most diners was a full bar stocked to its top shelves and rivaling any upscale eatery in the city. If you care for a taste of Denver that actually attracts Denverites, Steuben's is the place.
