About
Sam’s No. 3™ was the third of five Coney Islands restaurants opened by Sam Armatas during the 1920′s. The original location was at 1527 Curtis Street in the heart of downtown Denver. On Sept. 28th, 1998, Sam’s son, Spero, with his grandsons Sam, Alex, and Patrick, re-established his most famous of the Coney Islands restaurants, Sam’s No. 3™. In honor of the age old tradition, they made a promise to each other to continue to provide excellent quality of food and embrace the inviting, warm atmosphere started by “Mr. Sam” more than 75 years ago!In April 2011, our little kitchen was featured on Food Networks "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives". We were selected because so many local fans had written. A must-stop on any trip to Denver.

One of our favorite places to eat downtown. We visit all the town when we are there. This time is no different. We were staying downtown for the holiday lights and not about to miss eating here. Went as soon as we rested from our afternoon out. We called ahead so we didn’t have to wait as long. Was told it would be about 20 minutes so we wandered around a little beforehand. Got a table after waiting a little when we checked into the restaurant. My son had his staple Spero’s burrito and I had the fish and chips for something different than the Chile relleno I always have. And although it was huge, my son was so hungry he inhaled his meal. My fish and chips were not great. The fish was hard in some areas so I had to cut those away and eat around them. Mostly around the edges which wasted a lot of fish. The chips were good and im glad the server recommended them ja read of fries. I prefer chips anytime but sometimes they aren’t well fried. But no matter, still a fav restaurant of ours and we will be back.

The food in this old downtown Denver place was just great. Four of us went at 9:30 am, which is relevant because the Denver Omelet i ordered, and about a dozen other dishes are discounted until 10 am on weekdays. The omelet has a choice if potatoes and i picked home fries that were perfect along with toast. Others in my group had the discounted burrito, also excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Fun!

If your looking to try something different and want that nice warm comfort food then this is the place to go. They are efficient (most efficient restaurant ever), friendly, and food is out of this world. Mac n cheese dip is worth every penny but so is all their food. Amazing
With a large party appetizers were coming out as the next person in your party was ordering. Absolutely fantastic experience

I have been to Sam's lots of times, but it had been over a year so I stopped in during my walk downtown while the weather was nice. Big mistake. I ordered my favorite meal - huevos rancheros. I substituted corn tortillas for the flour and I substituted refried beans for the home fries. I am diabetic. I got my meal and the kicking green chili is different. I don't know if they lost the recipe or what. I see that the kitchen made my huevos with flour tortillas and I see that they put home fries on my plate too. Another waiter sees that I am looking at the flour tortilla and asks if he can get me anything, so I say, "Yes, some corn tortillas". By the time I got the corn tortillas, I had already eaten my eggs. I like to dip the tortilla in the yolk. So I never ate the corn tortillas. I never saw my waiter again. He never returned to my table. I went to the cashier to pay my check and I see that included a charge for $2.99 for the corn tortillas that I never ate.

My son offered to take me out for Easter Breakfast and I said let’s go to Sam’s (No. 3). He ordered his favorite meal and I got scrambled eggs, potatoes (not hash browns, the other kind) and whole wheat toast. The potatoes tasted like they were cooked in OLD OIL – so I could not eat them. The eggs and toast were cold. Our waitress was very nice but she never asked if we enjoyed our meal (I guess she could see my almost full plate set to the side on the table). I finally mentioned to her what was wrong with my plate and she said that she would “let the kitchen know.” How does that help the fact that my son ended up paying the full bill (and gave the waitress a nice tip) where I only ate (cold) scrambled eggs - plus one piece of cold toast. Needless to say I will NOT be eating at your restaurant any time soon since I would have thought the minimum response would be that my son would not have to pay for my meal – the meal where I only ate the (cold) eggs and one piece of toast. Terrible meal for Easter Sunday - such a disappointment.
P.S. Stomach problems after I got home (and before eating anything else).

Hello.
Sam’s No.3 Downtown was closed Easter Sunday. This review was placed on that Sam’s review page. Can you tell us which Sams you ate at so that we may get your situation resolved by the correct staff? We’d truly appreciate it and are very sorry that your visit and situation was not handled well.

If you are hungry, you need to eat here! We went on Sunday afternoon for brunch and got such a treat! I ordered the Avalanche Skillet, my son ordered the turkey club with fries (it ended up being two-three tiered sandwiches cut in fourths) and my friend ordered a veggie omelet and added sausage with sweet cream pancakes! Each dish was ABSOLUTELY delicious! My skillet came with onions, peppers, cheese, bacon, tots, red chili, and sourdough toast (of course I had grape jelly). I saw the largest burritos pass our table I had ever seen!! The service was excellent and the coffee was just right. Because of the pandemic, we waited about an hour but it was well worth the wait. When I’m in Denver again I will definitely come here!

The last time I was in Denver back in October, we couldn’t even get in. The inside dining was shuttered due to COVID. We stumbled upon the place going on a morning walk. When you see a long line simply for takeout.... something must be up. That time the line was too long and the wait too great. This time around, my wife looked up breakfast spots and lo and behold, she picked the one restaurant I was unsuccessful at getting into. I told her good luck with with getting anything. We took the whole family. I think the wait was less than 25 minutes and on that particular day, open dining also became available for the first time in 15 months! The breakfast gods blessed up with delicious meals such as breakfast burritos, pancakes, scrambled eggs, waffles and many more. This restaurant was worth the wait and I can’t wait to come back to Denver and eat there again. A must stop and eat!

This was my first visit to this Sam’s No 3 location. I have dined at the other two locations, so I wanted to try this location. We ordered the Fajita Steak Burrito and the Ribeye Lunch, both entrees had incredible flavors and the portion sizes are enormous. I have now dined at all three Sam’s No 3 locations and have been thoroughly impressed with the food quality, affordable pricing, menu selection and service.
I highly recommend any of the three Sam’s No 3 locations.

We stayed in Denver for 3 days for our 40th anniversary weekend. Ate breakfast here every morning. Delicious! Fresh pies — mmmmm ❤️
Even brought home a coffee mug to add to our collection. If you’re a breakfast lover, don’t miss out on this place.

We were staying near the restaurant and it has good ratings. It was extremely loud and wasn’t even busy. The food was mediocre at best. The two of us had breakfast and the ticket was $47!!! Of course they tell you the prices aren’t on the menu because of fluid food cost. I had mini pancakes and bacon with water, while my son had a big omelette with a soft drink. While dodging homeless people and this being our first day in Denver, it really started us off with a very poor impression of Denver.

Best breakfast in Denver! We come here every time we are in town . The service is excellent. Food comes out fast. So many options to choose and all of it is excellent. Great spot for singles as well as families I had the “High Maintenance gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free breakfast skillet” and my husband had chicken fried chicken with gravy and biscuits and gravy. They have something for everyone here.

If you're ever in the Denver area then you have to visit Sam's! The service was absolutely amazing even though they were really busy. Their specialty is the green Chile which is why they were featured on the food network. I ordered the breakfast burrito. There portions were huge and these prices were really reasonable. However, I ordered the Bloody Mary and was NOT happy. Im not sure what it was, it was loaded with bacon, celery, etc and I could not taste the savory tomato flavor. All I tasted was LIQUOR! It was not good other than that, everything else was great!

This was a few blocks from our hotel and since we had slept late and wanted breakfast we walked over to this Guy Fieri triple D restaurant. After a short wait we were seated in the very busy and very loud diner. Our server was very helpful and friendly and we were served drinks and then food in a reasonable time. The food was good but not great or remarkable. I had the Popeye omelet with hash browns and my wife shared her crispy bacon side with me. The bacon was the highlight for me as the omelet had little of the bacon listed in the menu description and the more than adequate pile of hash browns were insufficiently browned. Overall I would say, unless you are on a mission to visit triple D spots, skip this and get up early enough to have a good breakfast in a more peaceful atmosphere.

This little gem was on Diner's Drive In's, Dives. It was delicious! I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and stole some of my dad's fries. Soooooooo good! The fried chicken was juicy and flavorful, the mashed potatoes were so good they didn't need gravy. The fries were hand cut so good!

Let me get the bad out of the way at the start. If the place is crowded, your service experience may vary from incredible to ...highly questionable. For us - it was okay. Not great. Not terrible.
But the food.... Oh. My.
I had the breakfast burrito. Which of the 17? Number 3. All of them are awesome, you’re not going to go wrong with any of them.
My daughter had the pancakes made out of sweet cream. That’s right. Sweet cream pancakes. Don’t even bother with syrup. Not necessary.
My wife got something healthy-ish. I think it was a burrito in a wrap instead of a tortilla with green chili. It was good but let’s face it - you don’t come to Sam’s for health food.
It’s a must visit if in downtown Denver.
