I started working in Walnut Creek over a year ago and always wanted to go eat at Rooftop because of the outdoor dining experience but would hear the food wasn’t the best so I avoided it I went a few weeks ago for a management luncheon and I was so disappointed I did not try it earlier. The shrimp risotto was amazing. The wedge salad wasn’t the best but it was good and the edamame was also amazing. I thought the view of downtown was pretty and the staff so nice Some staff members need to wear their masks over the nose and mouth when serving food or around people but it didn’t and won’t ruin me coming back One of the top 10 restaurants for sure

Nice ambiance, overpriced and average food

Started off feeling like the Seinfeld episode… anyone can make a reservation, but can you keep a reservation…arrived early, seated late. Not a huge wait, but there were several open tables. We ordered the yellowtail appetizer. It was tasty… a bit overpriced, but it was really pretty good. The cocktail/mocktail we ordered were decent. The rest went downhill. Artichoke wasn’t horrible, but a bit burnt and petty small, making a lot of work for not much food. The curried ahi was actually a total disappointment. Not sure how you destroy raw tuna, but somehow they accomplished the task. I had a salad… really a plate of arugula and orange slices with a sprinkling of feta. He had the short ribs. It was decent. We walked out $175 later (with tip). All in all, food portions were small with a larger price. You pay for the people watching there, I suppose. We eat out a lot, and just not impressed, other than that pretty food presentation. Taste is more important than the look of the plate, folks.

Server Saves The Day!

This is a "server-saves-the-day" kind of review. We are Walnut Creek locals and really enjoy Rooftop for the view, the food, and the chill airy vibe. We typically dine once a month. That being said, this dinner started off on a bad foot. This was Friday, February 7. It was a busy night; we had reservations and were looking forward to a delicious dinner and some good wine after a crazy busy week. We were sat in a great table in a quiet corner and were greeted by a great server, Katie. Then the mayhem began. Across the clear glass/acrylic wall guests were sat "next to" us but their table wobbled. 5-6 times bussing staff came over to balance it at their request. After about the 6th time of trying they requested the hostess reseat them. For the next 20 minutes, no joke, bussing staff banged and bumped that table against the glass/acrylic wall where our table was, banging and banging and banging relentlessly. I tried to keep patient as I know they were working quickly to get the wasted real estate sat for other guests. I tried to make eye contact to express that they were being inconsiderate, but they banged away regardless. The point is they were completely clueless that they were essentially banging on the wall to where we were sitting. After 20 minutes I had enough. If I have a complaint about service at Rooftop it is that the bussing staff needs an in-service training session on awareness and etiquette. They clearly work very hard but more times than not, their contact with guests is hurried, rough around the edges, and sloppy. This subtle piece would make a huge difference. Their service level is awesome for a bar but not for a restaurant. Unrelated, I asked if the kitchen could accommodate my steak being prepared charred-rare. The server checked and the kitchen said no problem. About halfway through the banging against the wall, our meals arrived, and my steak was cooked mid-rare/medium, not charred. Not the end of the world, it was still a great tasting steak. The server was clearly embarrassed and went to the kitchen and came back saying the cook didn't understand what she was asking for. Again, not the end of the world. Katie, our server, spent the rest of the night checking on us frequently, smiling, and really making us feel like she wanted to make sure our night ended on a high note. Thank you, Katie, we felt it, we appreciate your efforts, and believe me that kind of service really makes an impact on people regardless of what others might say. It did make a positive impact and your efforts saved our night. Again, thank you Katie, you are a kind and true professional.

Nothing really super about this place

In our opinion, this is a young peoples venue with a big bar, tables outside and in, no way to keep the outside from coming in on a cool night and quite loud and very busy. Our waitress was super and the greeter tried to make us comfortable but the meal was only fair considering the pricing and the cold breeze. I doubt we will return but you might give it a try if the night is not cold or you have a jacket and cap with you.

First time!!Enjoyed a family dinner at the Rooftop and was very happy we chose this place. Super friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere. The weather was perfect and when it got a little cold the staff turn on the heaters. Definitely would recommend!!

Nice Outdoor spot to enjoy a drink in Central Down Town Walnut Creek

Nice open air bar that serves some food. We stopped in for a drink and appetizers on a Thursday night. It was fairly crowded but the service was good. We liked the Lamb Meatballs small plate but found the Brussels sprouts lacking. Wine by the glass was reasonable $11-$17 - but this is more of a bar for cocktails.

It is a rooftop, but don't expect a tall building. It's nice though and I like the atmosphere given by the brick walls. Service and food were ok, but we expected more cheese selection in the cheese board, none likes the chicken wings and the waitress forgot to bring a beer. However, they are very minimal things and I would recommend it anyway

First of all I’m going to tell you this place is really expensive. It’s going to cost you some money. But the small plates entrées were very inventive and the wine was excellent, the service was super friendly.

Service was not bad but a little slow and confused. It may have been staffing related and seemed to improve after about 40 minutes. Fun atmosphere and trendy. Drinks were small and pricey but did taste good. The attraction is definitely the rooftop view and not their bartenders.
