Spindleshanks, on the northwest side of Lake Tahoe, is a medium sized restaurant tucked away along the highway going south. The decor is attractive rustic-western and the spacious bar is isolated from the main dining areas. The food menu is oriented towards all taste options, with a nod to fish and seafood. Our reunion family of 14 were quickly seated... More

We stumbled into this restaurant because it was close to our timeshare. What a gem. We been in Tahoe Vista 5 night and have been here 4 of those nights. From 5pm -7pm they have a happy hour with $4 house wines (taste so much better than any house wine that I've had). and 4-5 appetizers for $6.00. The owner... More

We especially liked the "small plates" options, combining some of their interesting appetizers with a salad. The two we selected were outstanding - a raw Ahi tuna concoction and a BBQ shrimp disk (that was spicy and more like a soup, but that was fine). The salads were also good - iceberg lettuce and romaine. Service was maybe a little... More

Just a short walk from our lodging to a friendly place with a welcoming atmosphere. Stopped at the rustic looking bar first for a Guinness on tap-the bartender even tried to decorate the head of my beer with a shamrock!! We sat on stools at the counter on the patio and enjoyed the street action and peek through the trees... More

We shared the barbecue pot roast and a salad. The food was in generous portions and excellent. Our waiter brought the order already divided (for a $3 plate sharing charge).

We have been several times in past and enjoyed our meals. On 6/29 we went back. Restaurant was not crowded. We ordered drinks. Took about 20 minutes to get them. My martini was not cold. Salads were fine. My wife ordered scampi and I had flank steak with the stuffed pepper. The scampi really was shrimp linguine. Call it what... More

We sat at the bar and watched game 6 of the NBA finals while having great appetizers and drinks. Then, there was live music. What else could a girl ask for!

The food was great and our waiter was fun. No problems there. The real problem was that the manager should have had the good sense to correctly place the very noisy team of wine salespeople, who happen to be placed in the very center of the main dining room, into a more private/discreet area. Other diners, especially those couples looking... More

Two visits: One for drinks during happy hour, which was the very friendly part. Good drinks at good prices. Congenial service. Second was a pre-wedding dinner. Food was good, but the place seemed to be unprepared for the party of about 70 that descended on them. The two waiters made the best of a challenging situation with the requisite good... More
