The food and drinks are absolutely fantastic, but are made even better by the views. As an east-coaster, I felt like it was a true California experience. Service was great and you are right at the pier, so you can walk off all of the good food you ate. Definitely go if you have the chance!!

Well worth the hype. Great view, service was incredible. Even the host paid extra attention to people waiting for tables at the bar. When we told our server we were driving the Pacific Coast hughway, he sat down with us and drew a map with places he would recommend we stop at. We stopped at most and he did not... More

Have visited here a couple of times. Tight dining area. Noise level quite high. Service is great. Food arrives VERY expeditiously.

With a terrific wine list and meals made to perfection, The Lobster is a nice place to have a conversation and enjoy a repast. The conversation part is very important because too many restaurants are so loud that parties must shout at each other. The food was superb, and the location by the Santa Monica Pier is fantastic.

I always have high expectations for pricey reataurants. The Lobster delivered. We had a window table for the Santa Monica sunset. Get there early for that although the whole restaurant had a great view. Our server - Mike - was phenomenal. Outstanding. Food was terrific. Servers always paid attention to the details. 10 min before sunset all the blinds were... More

Right on the pier and in the middle of tourist-land, this is one of those rare places that is actually delicious with a nice wine list and a great staff. It is a tad pricey, but not crazy for LA. Might I recommend the crab enchiladas, the scallops with pork belly and crab cakes.

BRING YOUR OUT OF TOWN GUESTS HERE FOR DINNER OR LUNCH! We were here for a business group dinner and had a TERRIFIC meal. The restaurant accommodated our group (which included several midwesterners and easterners for whom the view of the CA beach was a wonderful cap to a productive and positive meeting) with a custom menu and a table... I cannot even count how many times I have been to The Lobster. I started coming during AFM in November and now try to visit whenever I am in Santa Monica. I love the ambiance. It is just so convivial and comfortable and great for business or personal. It is not quiet and intimate if you want that. The service... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
