Great place. Not a large variety but good 👌 vibe . They have a few options for vegetarian or fish . The staff is friendly.

Downtown San Rafael. Open since 1918, but all rooms totally updated, albeit they’re a bit funky: each has a name to match the decor, all fully equipped (fridge, coffee maker, a/c, etc. breakfast included. Don’t miss their restaurant: it’s a foodie’s delight!

Our stay coincided with the power company shutting off all power and resulted in a challenge to survive in the dark hours without any of the services on which we are so dependent. We were unable to even try the restaurant which we had enjoyed so...much in the past visits. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable .We slept long and well in the total darkness unable to even charge our cell phones to stay in touch with our families and friends.More

The restaurant is charming, with a retro feel in a pleasant old-style building on a quiet street and surrounded by trees. It is a delightful ambience for a quiet conversational dinner. There's live music but not offensive or intrusive, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The service is...cheerful and attentive. The menu is expansive. The food is good but not superb. The calamari fritti were excellent and the salads fair. I would not go there if you are interested in meat. We will go back there because the ambience was so pleasing and quiet, as were the restaurants of our youth, before brashness and echoing noisiness became the fashion.More

We were seated outside in perfect weather. My daughter got poblano chili (which I was envious of, but my avocad stuffed with fresh dungeness crab was awesome too. Lovely setting & food. Great service from Petra.

Bad customer reception. Main courses served right after 5 minutes the starters were served. Need to eat all together. Food just correct. Quite bad experience.

I had only one dinner in that restaurant but also 3 breakfasts. Especially dinner was very good. I liked the original variety of dishes on the menu alongside few traditional ones. Perogies with porcini were my dish of choice. They were nicely presented and very...tasty. All prices seamed to be very reasonable and service was timely and impeccable. The breakfasts were simple but consisted of fresh seasonal fruits, granola, baked goods, yogourts, milk, home made grainy breads, juices. Basicly everything you need for a healthy breakfast. My schedule took me away from the hotel for the remaining meals but I think it is a very nice and affordable restaurant in the region.More

My BF and I ate here last weekend. He had a stuffed poblano pepper and really didn't like it at all... was way too much goat cheese to even taste anything else (even for me and I like goat cheese). My seafood salad was quite...good but the scallops were a tad overcooked and I also had mussels which were tasty but not steaming hot and not the best I've ever had. We had to send one dessert back because they forgot to heat the apple galette below the ice cream (and truthfully, the dough used in the galette was too doughy, not at all flakey and delicate like it should be) and we had to wait for the bread pudding because another table got ours and it was very doughy and average tasting. The other disappointing thing about this place is that the menu seems to just stay the same all the time. I have to say, it wasn't as good as it used to be and I hope they fix this because the place has a lot of ambiance.More

Good food though not inspired; good service; lovely location. The wine selection, though not extensive, is decent with good choices in all categories.

The place, like most old establishment, is quaint, cozy (tightly packed), and offers nostalgic ambiance. The restroom is small and cramped, hardly enough space for a skinny person to turn around. The food is ok for the price level. The small number of wait staff...makes it difficult to get their attention because they are always rushing by to attend to too many tables inside and out. The place is terribly understaffed. Every space that can be used for seating is used - side yard, front yard, even vestibule at the entrance. It has one of the lowest wait staff to patron ratio that I have observed in recent years. For the prices, one expects better service. The snooty hostess (7/31/19 evening) with short cropped blond hair and flowery dress was doing her job being super friendly with those she knew and ignoring those she did not, being cold and hoity-toity. She did provide us some entertainment by flirting with and paying an inordinate amount of personal attention to a male patron sitting at the bar - with plenty of body rubbing. May be the gentleman is boy friend or husband? Nonetheless, the stark difference in her attitude towards certain customers and others, such as us (an ethnic diverse group with an olderly disabled person) was very palpable. Perhaps that's Marin. If one wants respect for diversity and genuinely good service, stay away from places like this.More

We were able to sit out on the backyard area. Flowers and trees and wonderful little eating areas. The lunch menu was limited but perfectly satisfying. We enjoy our meals and would surely good back.

I created a party for 9 friends at Sunday brunch recently. It was smooth and friendly from the get go and our server Rose was wonderful. Every order was successful and the coffee was divine. We might make this a quarterly event. The menu is...varied, accommodating of all eating styles and delish. Thanks! KateMore

We went to this quaint little restaurant for Valentine's Day. We had a late reservation, so the restaurant wasn't terribly busy but the service was terrible. Our waitress never once cracked a smile. She took away the soup while the soup spoon was still in...my hand. Someone came over and wanted to clear our plates while we still had food on them and it was obvious we weren't done. These people need to get a clue as far as service goes. The Hostess on the other hand was lovely, warm and friendly. The food was quite good--we shared a little gem salad with heart shaped beets, which were pretty but scarce. The butternut squash soup was fantastic as well as the fish dish that we shared. Can't say that we will be going back anytime soon though.More
