Service very attentive and personal. Fun to watch the kitchen work, smiling and motivated. Food was excellent. Had Anchovis salad, Risotto, duck breast and tiramisu.
this is a neighborhood gem-Chef Valenti makes fresh pastas and lovely fish and meat courses. we had the buckwheat pasta-great texture (always al dente), duck, radicchio salad-so creative with whatever fruit is in season. the triple chocolate cake is not to be missed!
Went there last night for the first time and it was quite good. Sat at bar and the bartender and waiter were very attentive and engaging. Would definitely go back.
Excellent Northern Italian food. The staff is always welcoming and professional. They have an interesting wine list, too.
Valentini is a nice Italian restaurant in San Anselmo. The food is good and the staff is kind and friendly As Italian I found a pretty good dishes Carpaccio, home made tagliatelle and fried polenta with black truffles were good. The environment is a little...noisy. I can recommend the place.More
We have been here a few times. It is always crowded. The ambience is nice, but it can be crowded and noisy. That aside the artichoke salad was chewy, the asparagus with egg would have been a better option and our table mate enjoyed that....The steak was cooked well but it wasnt very flavorful. The gnocchi is always a good choice.More
I went here for a birthday dinner and really enjoyed myself. The waitstaff is very professional and the food is delicious. I'm really tired of high fat "comfort" food being the norm at many restaurants. The focus here is on high quality ingredients and emphasizing...the flavors of those ingredients rather than smothering everything in cheese, cream or oil. My husband chose to make a dinner of appetizers and had the smoked trout, the anchovy salad, and a half order of the rabbit pappardelle. He thought they were all delicious. I especially liked the rabbit pappardelle since it was a chilly winter night. For my main I had the black spaghetti alla chitarra, with Maine diver scallops, San Marzano tomatoes, and chile pepper and enjoyed it thoroughly. Portions are generous so I had enough left over to take home for lunch the next day. It's tough to pick a wine that will go with both rabbit and scallops, but our waiter successfully paired a teroldego, a northern Italian varietal, with our meal. Interestingly, the wine came from a northern California winery called West of Temperance in Santa Rosa which specializes in Italian varietals. I enjoyed the wine so much I plan to visit the winery! I tried the Milanese style saffron panna cotta for dessert. It was a lovely texture but I wouldn't recommend it unless you also like flan. The 20 year tawny port we ordered to go with it was delicious and a good value for the price.More
Thank you so much for the review! We're glad we could be apart of your birthday celebration! You really hit the nail on the head when you said, "The focus here is on high-quality ingredients." Choosing fresh, local ingredients for our dishes makes them so...More
I recently organized a surprise birthday dinner at Valenti and it was amazing! The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Everyone was so impressed! We now have a new favorite Italian restaurant in Marin. Just lovely!
That's great to hear! Thanks for the kind words! We're glad we could snag the top spot on your favorite Italian Resturants in Marin list!
That's high praise, indeed. My husband loves gnocchi, which means we have had gnocchi many times, in many countries. The gnocchi at Valenti is very light, although the sauce has goat cheese and cream. The balsamic reduction adds acidity and sweetness. I highly recommended it!...Other dishes are also good, although nothing as memorable and addictive as their gnocchi.More
Thanks for the review! We're glad you enjoyed our gnocchi! It's taken a lot of experimenting over the years to dial in its flavors, so it's great to hear you liked it. Thanks again!
The owner of Valenti, a native Italian, still cooks in the kitchen every night. I've never had a bite of food at this neighborhood favorite that wasn't delicious. The staff remember your name and are generous with a terrific wine list. The place feels both...family run and yet elevated. The menu doesn't change a lot, but the dishes are clearly taught by hand by Nonna. Our go-to date restaurant. My husband orders the Pappardelle, which is both rich and brightened by the rosemary, pretty much every time we go. That is, unless he gets the Gnocchi, also amazing, or they have Amatriciana as a special. I love any of their salads followed by the meatball appetizer, or the cod.More
It's true! I'm the owner and I'm Italian! I love providing our guests at Valenti & Co with fine high-quality Italian cuisine. It always makes me happy to hear that our guests really enjoy the food we prepare! Thanks for the review!
This family run Italian restaurant is excellent. We were taken here for dinner by my cousin, who is a regular. The place is very popular so we had to wait a little while for our table, which was fine since it gave me a chance...to enjoy the lively vibe. The waiters all very polite and friendly and ever so efficient. The food was amazing. Super fresh and delicious and so well presented. It was a most enjoyable evening and I would definitely visit again. Highly recommend.More
Thanks for the review! Sometimes the place can get crowded, but that must mean we're doing something right! We're glad you stopped by! We hope to see you again soon!
This was a return visit to this exceptional restaurant. Both of us ordered the baked crusted halibut which was served on a bed of spinach surrounded by a wonderful lemon and olive oil sauce. The taste was amazing. Wife also enjoyed a bowl of squash...soup with sour cream and a hazelnut ice cream dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. Noise level not at all bad; however we dined early, shortly after opening. Not sure they have off-street parking but we found a slot right in front of the door. Prices a bit on the high side for fine dining; $30 and up per entrée. Caution: only a somewhat small plaque on the building wall identifies the restaurant, so drive slowly and watch for the plaque.More
Thanks for the review! The restaurant can be a little hard to find. For those looking for the restaurant, it is located right underneath the sign that says San Anselmo Inn. We appreciate you coming in and leaving a review! Thanks again!
As previously, great staff, beautiful tomato salad and good vino. Love the raised seats opposite the open kitchen.
The open kitchen allows for a whole different dining experience! Seeing the food prepared in front of you really makes eating at our restaurant stand apart! Thanks for the review!
We eat here fairly regularly as it is a friendly neighborhood place with food that is a cut above. The pastas are homemade, the specials are great and the rabbit dish is wonderful. The service is friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable about what...they offer. We love sitting at the bar and chatting with Bianca; she always steers us right re food and wine choices. We took a friend from out of town to watch the Warriors game a few months back and she was a bit shocked (delightedly) to find that Valenti was not the sports bar she was imagining and that the food was SO great (considering that you can watch the game there too!).More
