Hawks has the best food in Sacramento (the cocktails are good too). Parking is also easy. I eat here at least twice a month.

Made patio reservation online, noted wife's birthday. Seated inside 3 feet away from the constantly opening front doors. Ordered cocktails and app and asked for burgers and wine to come after. Was told by server that is preferred method of ordering, all courses at beginning...so chef can pace the meal. Chef spoke with table next to us for about an hour, not in the kitchen once. App arrived in 15 minutes, no cocktail. 15 minutes later, still no cocktail, burger and fries arrive, no wine. Burger/fries sit and chill while manager and server running around to track down wine. We declined the cocktails at this point since they were meant to go with the app and before entrees. Wine finally arrives, 1 pour was short and the other was the wrong wine. Ate half of cold burger while our table is being pre-bussed and we seem to be encouraged to leave. We never complained once, were friendly and engaging, and smiled throughout our experience. Asked for check, presented gift card, was denied because, as the manager told us, "We are unable to get our gift cards to work at both of our locations because we use different POS systems at each..." Still no mention of wife's birthday and don't understand why RESY reservations even included the option. We paid cash on a $77 tab and left $25 tip. we are NEVER going back there and are giving away our unused gift card. What a joke of a place aspiring to earn a Michelin award. Chef is still probably talking to that table 18 hours later instead of trying to assist his understaffed mess of a restaurant. Don't set your expectations high. After 25 years in hospitality, this is a truly bad dining experience. Spread the word! Hawks is an embarrassment for the Midtown restaurant scene.More
