You can TELL the employees are treated well and are happy. They are glad to see customers and the place is very cheerful. There are NO tomatoes available for your burger and the lettuce is pre-shedded and a bit dry and browned on the edges. but the beef is fresh, the fries are very good and the shakes are good.

I agree with John B. It didn't live up to it's reputation. It was just a burger, nothing special. I was disappointed.

Lot's of history here. Since 1938. Started in a tent, for the workers building Shasta Dam. This location, in downtown Redding, has been opened since 1962. Locally owned and operated. Some staff have been working here for decades. Cool counter seating and tables. Burgers, hot dogs, vegetarian, shakes and fries. I do the Double Dam Deal with cheese, about 10$.... More

I have been enjoying their burgers and fries and milk shakes for 46 years. Absolutely the best burger EVER. Always good, always pleasant place to grab lunch, and the new outdoor covered patio is a nice place to people watch while you eat. Two stamp Tuesday is my favorite day, when you buy a burger you get two stamps on... More

Just an average burger. Really nothing special. We were disappointed, having heard good things about the place.

Had heard about this historic burger joint located near downtown Redding, CA from previous reviews and friends. As we were in area we decided that this time we would check out Dam Burger. Small location on Placer St with long history, been in Redding since 1938. Originally serving coffee, pie, and burgers to Shasta Dam workers for 25 cents! Menu... More

If you want straight up burgers with abundant yummy fries, this is your place. The servers were helpful and attentive (and funny too). The burgers were cooked to order and the shake was thick enough to keep the straw standing up. Plan to come back here again.

The Dam burger was really good and the wait staff were really nice! I'd eat here again! If you have a big appetite, order the Helen or a double dam burger! French fries are crispy and hot!
