We had not been back here for 3 years or so. It does not disappoint. White table clothes and attentive service and rally very good, not gourmet, fare. Comfort food of higher end restaurants. The onion strings are to die for as an appetizer. Enough...More

The host was not very polite even with our reservation. The creamy asparagus soup was luke warm. The bread was tasty and the BBQ family style included ribs, fries, corn on the cob and the mudpie for $36. The folks who ate it said the...More

Been going there forever. It's changed over the years, but we've adapted up to now. Last series of changes just more than we can "adapt" to. Chat with a manager basically was that they're not looking for our demographic group. Not sure they're going to...More

Inese, I am sorry our management team left you with the impression that we are not looking to maintain our current demographic group. I assure you we are, as both my partner Faz and I are in that group. Rather, we are hoping to enlarge...More

This is a large restaurant, and was very busy on Christmas. Despite the crowd, the food on the buffet was fresh, at right temperatures, and delicious.

I'm happy you enjoyed the setting, but it's a shame your vegetarian entrees weren't quite your thing. I appreciate the feedback on this and hope you'll stop by for another try sometime. Take care, Chuck Frank, Co-Owner

Description
WELCOME TO MACARTHUR PARK - An American BBQ Experience. Ribs and a whole lot more. MacArthur Park Restaurant, named after a Jimmy Webb song, has been a neighborhood favorite in Palo Alto since it first opened in 1981. Today's MacArthur Park has been reclaimed by its original owner and its original chef with a revitalized menu and a recent renovation of this historical landmark Julia Morgan building. Historical landmarks are permanent sign posts to a culture's community. This landmark has served the community in many incarnations: as a 1918 Hostess House for visiting families of World War I servicemen, as a community center, a veterans hall and now, once again, as the new MacArthur Park. Home is a place you love, and MacArthur Park is pleased to welcome the community back home with new dishes, old favorites and the warmest of hospitality.
