This is the first time we went to MacArthur Park in Palo Alto. We were surprised, as it was tucked away in an unusual part of University Avenue, and you could almost miss the turn. The plus is that they had valet parking! Although really crowded, they sat us right away because we had reservation. The inside was interesting, a... More

Three business colleagues and I decided that we wanted to have a nice steak dinner after a long workshop. All the places in town were booked until later that evening. McArthur Park had openings. We had a great dinner and each of our steaks and lamb was cooked perfectly. Nice wine list for reasonably priced bottles. Would go back again.

Great food and service for over 30 business guests. We ordered from a set menu but the choices were wide and the food was good. Better still the guests at the tables were served together and nobody had to wait.

I went there with a Stanford group and we had the choice of only a few options. But the food was very good, as was the wine. I would go back an order off the menu. The location is great, right by the train station. The old building is charming, but I would not have painted it white inside and... More

Good food, wonderful ambience and adventure to find combined to keep this on my list of places to enjoy when traveling to Palo Alto. Get there early and have a reservation because I 'm not the only one that likes it. A diverse crowd in terms of ages definitely says family friendly.

I have attended many a pre conference networking event, and the one hosted at MacArthur Park ranks among the best. We used the small dining room right off the entrance, which was the right size to support four or so tables, with space to mingle and to support a check in table. Just right to enable small group or pairs... More

I ordered the grilled pork chop and was amazed to see that it was at least an inch thick when it arrived. My experience with thick pork chops are that they are either under cooked in the center or extremely dry. This pork chop was perfect throughout. Very tender. Very tasty. The accompanying vegetables were only so-so, or I would... More

I have been 15+ times, but always for the Sunday brunch. Certainly the best Sunday brunch in the area. Buffet style. Lots of choices, fresh food, etc.

I reserved a table at this restaurant for myself and my daughter based mainly on reviews and availability. The restaurant itself looks almost like someone's house from outside and a renovated barn from within. The selection of food was very good. I saw something for everyone. There was a fish and carving station, plenty of salads to choose from, lots... More

Two of us dined there on a Wednesday night. The spacious room was not full but nicely busy. Since we'd already had some pass-arounds at an event nearby we both opted for a light dinner of the crab cake appetizers and a caesar salad; hers with chicken, mine without. We were served bread which was warm from the oven and... More

WELCOME TO MACARTHUR PARK - An American BBQ Experience. Ribs and a whole lot more. MacArthur Park Restaurant, named after a Jimmy Webb song, has been a neighborhood favorite in Palo Alto since it first opened in 1981. Today's MacArthur Park has been reclaimed by its original owner and its original chef with a revitalized menu and a recent renovation of this historical landmark Julia Morgan building. Historical landmarks are permanent sign posts to a culture's community. This landmark has served the community in many incarnations: as a 1918 Hostess House for visiting families of World War I servicemen, as a community center, a veterans hall and now, once again, as the new MacArthur Park. Home is a place you love, and MacArthur Park is pleased to welcome the community back home with new dishes, old favorites and the warmest of hospitality.
