I went here with a colleague for an early dinner. We didn't have a reservation but the staff were accommodating and we chose to sit at the bar. We had a few dishes to share and all were of a high standard. The spring rolls were authentic and the other dishes were all full of flavour and well presented. The... More

Food is very nice and unique. Be prepared to order plates to share with your table and enjoy a lot of different flavors.

The food at Tamarind is without question, delicious. Is it as good as what you'll find in Southeast Asia? no. But it's very tasty. On that note, because I've traveled extensively throughout SE Asia and had incredible meals at a fraction of the cost, it's hard for me to fully enjoy eating here given the cuisine's origin, yet here, it's... We were looking forward to dining here. The food was good. But as my son remarked, it should have been better than what it was.

Great experience...bustling, busy with great service. Bar eating as well as tables and family style table Highly recommend the calamari, shrimp ... if you like spicy order the condiments with fresh chiles ... did not enjoy the lamb chops

I always enjoy the imaginative menu with lots of interesting items. The basics are Vietnamese with a California influence. I like to go there for special occasions or with out of town visitors to give them a taste of something different.

OK, there are lots of good restaurants in Palo Alto as there is a lot of moola to support them. But as infrequently as I get to Palo Alto, I am inexorably pulled to Tamarine. It is on the quiet side up University so you can avoid a lot of the congestion. And the servers are gracious, the food interesting... More

Tamarine has it all: Delicious food, splendid presentation, attractive ambiance and impeccable service. It is definitely not your traditional Vietnamese restaurant, the menu definitely has quite a few Vietnamese ingredients, but most dishes reflect a modern California slant in terms of preparation and presentation. Among the entrees, Clay Pot Cod, Shaking Beef, Hoisin Lamb Chops and Lemongrass Seabass are a... More

Loved It... One of the best in town. Hipster... Crowded and a bit noisy but with a very palo alto vive.

Description
Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. Semi-annual exhibits will close with a cocktail event to auction the art. Proceeds will be donated to La Maison Chance, an orphanage in Saigon, Vietnam.
