We had a mixed straight/gay group for dinner one night at Tropicale. We understand it's primarily a gay place but we didn't feel any negative vibe from the gay patrons toward the straight members of our group; it was all good. We enjoyed the ambiance on the patio and our meals were very nice. It's not necessarily fine dining but... More

The atmosphere at this restaurant is absolutely perfect! Live jazz on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We happened to be here on a Thursday night and enjoyed the music immensely. Our waiter was Robert and he was attentive and kind and patient and great at explaining everything. I had the watermelon strawberry vodka martini and it was absolutely delicious and fresh, not... Food 5 Service 5 Ambiance 5 Drinks 5 We had a variety of small plates and a sausage and caramelized onions pizza and same toppings on a gluten-free crust. Every dish was prepared well and served hot. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere is lively and having fun is unavoidable. We went around 5:00 so enjoyed "Happy Hour" prices with attentive... More

I have one word for the outdoor bar at Tropicale...BUSY...get there at or just after four pm or you will be standing but that isn't a bad thing. Come with friends or meet new friends. It's happy hour all night Wednesday but it's happy hour every afternoon. The cheerful friendly bartenders will make anything you want. There is also a... More

They have figured out the perfect recipe for consistent excellence! Simple menu, and everything is good. Who knew spaghetti and meat balls would be a regular favorite? Great individual pizzas. You see a lot of fried chicken orders getting served so it must be good but I've never tried it. Service is always good. Atmosphere is one of my favorite... More

My wife and I ate here during our trip to Palm Springs in early March 2017. The atmosphere is really fun with a vibrant and eclectic ambiance. Our experience with the food was just so-so. The menu is incredibly vast with all different types of foods from Thai to Italian to American. We had the Pupu platter as an appetizer... More

Yes, I'm a bit of a food snob and I'm spoiled by outstanding restaurants and service at home in Vancouver. Palm Springs restaurant managers should take a trip up the coast to Vancouver for some lessons on how to create fine dining. How on earth Tropicale manages to attract such a following is beyond me. My partner and I were... More

My husband and I went to Tropicale twice during our visit to Palm Springs, and really enjoyed both experiences. The first was for a happy hour on the patio. Happy hour goes until 7pm, and a nice selection of small plates are available. We shared 3 or 4 and made a meal of it. Our second visit was for dinner.... More

The service at Tropicale was good. Very attentive and prompt. The table had a variety of things including fried southern chicken, miso salmon bowl, and spaghetti and meatballs. The chicken was quite dry. The salmon had good flavor and is served with veggies and black rice. The meatballs were fantastic. I wasn't optimistic about the meatballs since this isn't an... More
