If you are ready for a change, be sure to try the "Wrench and Rodent Seabasstropub"...a small restaurant adjacent to the Whet Noodle and share a common kitchen. OK, enough of the background information...the food was "out-of-bounds" to paraphrase a well known TV personality. From the scrumptious sashimi, to numerous types of seafood nigiri to the unusually creative 'rolls' filled... More

Ate here because it was open a little later. There was a sushi side and a noodle side. Had sushi. Many different inventive menu items with everything fresh and well prepared. Had crispy cauliflower, hot and sour miso soup, several different rolls that featured so many different preparations that I'd never seen before. Our favorite was the hedgehog roll, which... More

I don't live in the area so I don't feel too bad about giving away this gem. The chef's are artistes here. Seriously if you can go, go.

This is the premier sushi, fish source in North San Diego County, if not all of San Diego. This is THE place, growing by word of mouth. These folks have the freshest seafood, prepared in the most creative ways imaginable. Don't be put off by the location or the "ambience". It's funky and intimate, and truly a novel experience. We've... More

A lovely intimate cafe for an evening of sharing Sushi and Sashimi. They have indoor/outdoor seating. The sushi rolls were generous, larger rolls than I typically see and the Sashimi was thickly sliced and yummy. The wait staff was attentive and did a great job at recommending something spicy. The Kombucha was fantastic and the dessert cupcake which we took... More

Went here for New Year's Eve. Very busy somewhat small restaurant. Parking is not great and it's hard to see. It has came on door with another restaurant. But its fabulous. Good service and fantastic food. Had the chronic the hedgehog and the wet brain rolls. All were super. Also had the beef teriyaki and it was even better. Definitely... More

If you are in the San Diego area, you owe it to yourself to visit the Wrench and Rodent. Chef Davin Waite and his wife Jessica have created something so unique you won't believe your eyes and taste buds. Do what we did, choose the "Chef's Choice" and let them surprise you. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

We decided to try this place with friends from out of town, always a risk but in this case it was wonderful! They are "foodies" and travel around the world so when they say "this is amazing" or "best scallops anywhere" and so on you can trust that they know what they are saying. We ordered 8 or 10 dishes... This place was a revelation! I'm glad we made a reservation (which was cheerfully changed for us when we were running late) because the restaurant is tiny and fills up quickly. It felt as if most of the diners were regulars, and it's easy to see why: the chef of Wrench and Rodent (the name is a play on traditional... More

A couple of my brothers and I visited Wrench and Rodent on a Wednesday evening around 7:00 and the place was busy. There was one table left and after being seated we ordered a couple of the local beers (on tap) and some filtered sake. After studying the menu for a few minutes, we indicated what we wanted on an...
