We were lost so ended up at this restaurant...glad we did! We were unexpectedly seated dockside. The Hostess (sorry I cant remember her name) was AMAZING...my 75 yr old Mother denied outside seating because it was cool. The amazing Hostess ensured her that there were heaters outside and brought each in our party blankets....SO GRATEFUL SHE DID! We were warm... More

It has been many many years since I have been her probably because it was always just mediocre. I came here for a business lunch nd was pleasantly surprised how good it became. The food and service were excellent and the steak was one of the best I have had in a while

Have visited here many times in the past, and it never gets old! We had a large table and a large group on a somewhat busy night, but our service was absolutely top notch! Food here is delicious, no matter what you choose. I had the best swordfish in my life on this visit! Very moist inside, and not dry... More

A couple of weeks ago two friends and I had dinner at The Cannery in Newport Beach, CA. I had been there a few years ago and the place was just as charming as ever. We had made reservations on the top floor by the window so the view was magnificent. We were there for Happy Hour, not to guzzle... More

Spent a Saturday January lunch at the patio. Perfect weather. Oysters were fresh and the calamari was OK. I ordered the lobster roll which was very chewey. My jaw actually got sore from all the chewing. Our server never came to ask us about our food or give me a refill on my Diet Coke. Next thing she came with... More

My husband and I had dinner at the Cannery once again. I truly love this place...the food is delicious and the employees provide great customer service. We ordered Grilled Hawaiian Prawns, Pacific Swordfish, Robuchon Mashed Potatoes (awesome), a filet mignon, 1 whiskey, 1 beer, and one martini. Total price without tip was 154.08. Pricey, yes..however I believe it is totally... More

Good food, but portions are on the small side. Nice decor. Nice location. Staff could be friendlier. We were with a group of 36 people in a private room with a preset menu and unlike in another restaurant we were visiting the day before you couldn't deviate at all from the menu.

Valet parking only.during rush hour, expect hours to get seated.most customers just camp there without spending especially college kids

Came last March and decided a return visit was in order, but one dish was disappointing. Service and location were wonderful - very professional and attentive. Tender Calamari appetizer was great. Sea Bass was excellent, but the House Made Pasta with Lobster lacked flavor and the seafood seemed not very fresh. Stick to the local fish and you will be... More

On a family outing, we took the boat from Dana Point to Newport Beach, could dock right at the restaurant, very convenient. With nine people, we unfortunately did not have a table with a view, but rather right down from the reception area, which was a bit of a drawback. The ambience is clearly that of a fine dining establishment,... More
